A 6.5 × 12 mm lab-grown alexandrite, kite cut and framed by a halo with fairy carvings worked into the silver. The stone shifts between teal-blue and violet as the light changes. The band crosses over itself on each side, one strand plain and one set with round cubic zirconia. Solid 925 sterling silver with a rhodium finish.

The Design
Faelyn is a ring you have to look at twice. From a distance it is a long kite stone in a pointed silver frame. Up close, the frame is carved: fairy figures and leaves are worked in relief into the halo around the stone, with a small round accent at the top point and prongs at each corner.
The band splits into two strands that cross on each shoulder. One strand is polished silver and the other carries a row of round stones that sweeps up into the frame. If you are looking past a plain solitaire, our guides to fairy engagement rings and non-traditional engagement rings map the wider field, and what hand an engagement ring goes on answers the question that always follows.
The Alexandrite and Its Color Shift
Alexandrite is the stone that changes color. Under daylight it reads teal to blue-green; under warm indoor light or candlelight it swings to violet and plum. The effect is real optics: the mineral absorbs light unevenly across the spectrum, so what you see depends on what is lighting it.
The shift is fully visible here, because the stone is faceted and held in open prongs. Our piece on whether synthetic alexandrite changes color explains the mechanism.
This stone is lab-grown. Natural alexandrite at 6.5 × 12 mm is among the rarest gemstones on earth and is priced accordingly. The lab-grown material has the same chrysoberyl chemistry and the same behavior. Our comparison of lab-grown versus natural alexandrite lays out the trade-offs.
Metal and Stones
The ring is solid 925 sterling silver with a rhodium finish, the same platinum-group metal used on white gold. The rhodium gives the bright white surface and shields the silver underneath from tarnishing. The white accents on the band and at the top of the frame are cubic zirconia, not diamond.
Part of our kite cut alexandrite engagement rings, alexandrite engagement rings and kite cut engagement rings collections, alongside the rest of our sterling silver rings. Alexandrite is a June birthstone, covered in our birthstone guide.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the fairy on the ring?
In the halo. Fairy figures and leaves are carved in relief into the silver frame around the stone. They are small, so they show best up close.
Does the color shift actually show?
Yes. The stone is faceted and set in open prongs, so light passes through it and the shift is clearly visible: teal-blue in daylight, violet under warm indoor light.
Is the alexandrite real?
Yes. It is genuine alexandrite, a chrysoberyl, lab-grown rather than mined. Same chemistry, same hardness, same color-change behavior.
What colors does it change between?
Teal to blue-green under daylight and cool white light; violet and plum under warm indoor light or candlelight. The strength of the shift depends on the light source.
How big is the center stone?
6.5 × 12 mm, kite cut. It is a long stone and covers a good part of the finger.
Is alexandrite a birthstone?
Yes. Alexandrite is one of the June birthstones, alongside pearl and moonstone.
What is it made of?
Solid 925 sterling silver throughout, with a rhodium finish for a bright white surface. No brass or base metal.
Will the silver tarnish?
The rhodium finish acts as a barrier, so it resists the darkening untreated sterling develops. The finish does wear thin after years of daily wear, and we can refinish the ring when it does.
Are the white accent stones diamonds?
No. They are cubic zirconia, a simulated diamond.
Does this ring come with other stones?
Yes. The same Faelyn design is also made with a natural moss agate. Use the gemstone swatches on this page to switch between them.
What sizes are available?
Sizes 4 through 11, including every half size.
Will a wedding band sit flush against it?
Not entirely. The lower point of the kite frame leaves a gap against a straight band. A contour or chevron band will nest more closely.
Can I have it engraved?
Yes. Engraving is available on the inner band, up to 16 characters, and can be added as an option at checkout.
