Is recycled gold as good as new gold?

It is the same gold. Refining removes everything that is not gold, so 14K recycled and 14K newly mined are identical in color, hardness and hallmark. The only difference is that one did not require a new mine.

Are lab-grown diamonds sustainable?

They avoid mining, which is the largest impact of a natural diamond. They do use energy to grow. We do not yet have verified data on the energy source our growers use, so we say no mining and stop there.

Is the packaging recyclable?

The shipping materials are paper and go in curbside recycling. The ring box is meant to be kept.

Can I have an old ring remade?

We can resize and repair rings we made, and we can design a new ring around a stone you already own through the custom ring page. We do not yet reclaim metal from old pieces.

Why don’t you publish a carbon figure?

Because we have not measured one, and an estimate would be a guess dressed as a fact. When we have a number from real data, starting with shipping, it will be on this page with a date.

Recycled precious metals

Recycled gold jewelry: same metal, lighter footprint

Recycled gold, silver and platinum are chemically identical to newly mined metal and carry the same hallmarks. Nothing about the finished ring changes except its history: no new mine, no new tailings, a fraction of the energy.

We ask our refiners for recycled metal first. Where we cannot get it, which is mostly small components like chains, posts and clasps, we use newly refined metal and we do not pretend otherwise. That is why we do not print a 100% recycled badge, and why the number we publish will come from paperwork.

Three goals a family studio can keep

Recycled metal. Publish the recycled share for each metal on this page, measured from refiner paperwork, not estimated.
Waste. Zero solid gold cast that nobody ordered. Sterling made in small batches, not stockpiled.
Longevity. A ring that stays in use for decades: lifetime warranty on solid gold and platinum, resizing and repair on rings we made years ago.

Nothing cast that nobody ordered

Solid gold and platinum rings are cast after you order them. That means no unsold inventory, no scrap runs to melt down at season’s end, and no discounting a gold ring nobody wanted. It is also why those pieces take 3 to 6 weeks, and why we say so on the listing instead of in the fine print.

Sterling silver designs are made in small batches: enough to ship this week, not enough to fill a warehouse. Couples sets ship in one box, which customers mention in reviews more often than you would expect.
