Why we retire designs
Every piece here is the last of its kind — and we don't make it twice.

We keep our collection considered, which means some designs must make way for new ones. What's left is offered at its lowest price, so it can begin a life somewhere it's loved.

Good to know

The same standard, always

Discontinued, not diminished

These designs are simply retiring from the collection. The craftsmanship, materials and finish are exactly as they've always been.

Ethically sourced

Each gemstone is hand-selected for brilliance and clarity, responsibly sourced from partners we trust — clearance or not.

Made to be worn

Finished to endure daily wear and treasured for years. A lower price today, the same lasting piece tomorrow.

Here now, and then gone.

What Goes Into Our Jewelry Clearance — and What Doesn't

Jewelry clearance at Aquamarise means one specific thing: a design has been retired from the permanent catalog, and what remains on this page is the last of it. These are not seconds, not returns, and not overstock of styles we plan to reorder. Every piece here was manufactured to the same specification as the version that sold at full price for the past several years — the only thing that changed is that we stopped producing it.

Designs retire for unglamorous reasons. A setting proves slow to produce at volume. A stone becomes difficult to source in consistent color. A silhouette sells steadily but never quite earns its place beside the styles that outgrew it. When that happens the remaining stock moves here, gets marked down once, and sells through. There is no second markdown and no restock, which is why sizes thin out unevenly — a design may be gone in a 6 and a 9 while a 7 lingers for weeks.

What you will not find in this clearance is anything damaged, previously worn, or altered. Pieces that come back to us through returns are inspected and either restocked at full price or retired entirely; they do not get quietly rerouted into clearance. If a piece is on this page, it left the workshop the same way its full-price counterpart did.

Clearance Engagement Rings That Are Retiring, Not Rejected

The largest share of this clearance is engagement rings, and that surprises people who associate clearance with unpopular inventory. The reality of a catalog this size is that plenty of well-made designs get squeezed out by newer ones. A vintage-inspired alexandrite solitaire and a cushion-cut sapphire in rose gold vermeil can both sell perfectly well and still be discontinued, simply because the collection they belonged to has been replaced.

That makes clearance engagement rings an unusual proposition. You are not choosing between quality and price — you are choosing between availability and permanence. A retiring design will never be reissued, which means it functions rather like a small edition: nobody buying an engagement ring next year will be able to get the same one. For couples drawn to non-traditional engagement ring styles, that scarcity is often the appeal rather than the risk.

The trade-off is real, though, and worth naming. If you buy a discontinued ring and later want a matching band or a second piece in the same setting, we will not be able to make one. Couples planning a full stack are usually better served by our permanent lines.

How Clearance Jewelry Quality Compares to Full-Price Aquamarise

It compares exactly, because it is the same jewelry. Sterling silver pieces in this clearance are solid 925 — 92.5% silver alloyed with 7.5% copper throughout the metal rather than applied as a surface layer, which is why sterling cannot wear through to something else underneath and does not turn skin green. Vermeil pieces meet the FTC standard of at least 2.5 microns of 10K or higher gold over a sterling base. Gemstones are set to the same tolerances by the same hands.

The discount reflects inventory strategy, not specification. We would rather move a retired design quickly and cleanly than hold it for a year at full price while it occupies space and attention that newer work needs. That is the entire economics of it.

Worth knowing: clearance pieces carry the same after-purchase support as anything else on the site. They are not final sale.

Clearance Rings by Gemstone: What's Still Available

Stock here shifts weekly, but the gemstones that recur in our retirements follow a pattern. Alexandrite appears often, usually in vintage-style settings — it is a color-change stone, shifting between green-blue and purple-red depending on light source, and the mechanism behind that shift is one of the more genuinely interesting things in colored stones. Blue sapphire turns up in cushion and vintage cuts; at Mohs 9 it is second only to diamond in hardness, which makes a discontinued sapphire ring a low-risk everyday piece.

Herkimer diamonds — double-terminated quartz at Mohs 7 — show up in toi et moi and salt-and-pepper pairings, often alongside black onyx. Moss agate and emerald appear in leaf and vine settings. Tanzanite and London blue topaz account for most of the retiring necklaces and earrings on this page.

If a specific stone is what you came for and it is not here today, the permanent collections are the better route: gemstone rings for the full range, or aquamarine rings and moonstone jewelry for those two in depth.

Metals in This Clearance: Sterling Silver, Vermeil and Ruthenium

Three metals dominate the clearance. Solid 925 sterling silver is the most common, and the most forgiving — it takes polishing well and suits people who want a cool-toned setting that does not compete with the stone. Yellow gold vermeil and rose gold vermeil account for most of the warmer pieces, and they read as gold at a fraction of the commitment of solid gold.

Black ruthenium turns up in the darker retirements. It is a platinum-group metal, denser and harder than the rhodium used for most white finishes, and it produces a genuine gunmetal-black rather than a painted-looking coating. Pieces finished this way tend to come from our darker lines — if that is the direction you are shopping, black rings holds the permanent range.

Buyers who want something that will outlast a decade of daily wear without any finish considerations at all should look at solid gold engagement rings instead. Clearance is the wrong place to shop if permanence is the priority — that is a straightforward trade you should make with open eyes.

How to Shop the Clearance Before Sizes Disappear

Because nothing here is restocked, the practical advice is different from a normal sale. Sizes vanish in an order that has nothing to do with popularity — whatever was left when the design retired is what exists. If you see your size in a piece you want, that is the decision point; waiting a week is a genuine risk rather than a marketing line.

Two habits help. First, know your size before you browse rather than after you have fallen for something. Second, if you are shopping for a proposal and cannot measure discreetly, consider a permanent-collection ring instead so that adjustments stay possible later. Our guide to custom jewelry timelines is useful if you are weighing that route.

And if nothing here fits, that is fine — the current sale carries reduced pricing on styles that are staying in the catalog, and best sellers shows what is not going anywhere.

Jewelry Clearance FAQs

Is clearance jewelry lower quality than full-price pieces?

No. Clearance pieces are made to identical specification — solid 925 sterling silver, or vermeil meeting the 2.5-micron FTC minimum — and are discounted because the design has been retired, not because anything about the piece is different. Compare directly against the permanent gemstone rings range if you want to see it.

Are clearance items final sale?

No. Clearance purchases follow the same return and exchange terms as full-price orders, and remain eligible for resizing under our standard policy. Nothing on this page is sold as-is.

Will these designs ever come back?

No. Every piece here is discontinued and will not be reproduced or restocked in any metal or stone. If you want something you can reorder or match later, shop engagement rings for women or women's wedding bands instead.

Why do some sizes sell out so fast?

Remaining stock was whatever existed when the design retired, so size distribution is uneven and arbitrary. A style may have several 7s and no 6 at all. There is no reorder to wait for.

Can I get a matching wedding band for a clearance engagement ring?

Usually not in the same design, since the setting is discontinued. Many buyers pair a retired ring with a plain or contrast band from women's wedding bands, which often looks better than a literal match. Our wedding ring set guide covers how to pair mismatched pieces well.

Does sterling silver in clearance tarnish faster?

No — tarnish depends on the alloy and how a piece is stored and worn, not on how it was priced. All our sterling is solid 925. Our guide to cleaning jewelry at home covers safe methods for silver, vermeil and set stones.

What gemstones show up most often in clearance?

Alexandrite, blue sapphire, Herkimer diamond, black onyx, moss agate, tanzanite and London blue topaz recur most. For background on the color-change stones, see alexandrite vs sapphire, and what is my birthstone if you are shopping by month.

Is moss agate durable enough for daily wear?

Moss agate sits at roughly 6.5–7 on the Mohs scale — fine for regular wear, but softer than sapphire and worth protecting from knocks. See how to clean a moss agate ring and the best metals for moss agate. The full range lives in moss agate jewelry.

Do you have clearance pieces for men?

Occasionally, though most retirements are women's designs. The permanent range is at men's rings and wedding bands, and gothic rings for men covers the darker end of it.

What's the difference between this page and the sale page?

Clearance is discontinued stock that will never return. The sale is a temporary reduction on pieces that stay in the catalog afterwards. If you want something you can reorder, buy from the sale.

Can I use a discount code on clearance items?

Clearance pricing is already applied to each piece, so no code is needed and promotional codes generally do not stack on top of it.

Are moissanite pieces included?

Sometimes, when a moissanite setting retires. The permanent range is moissanite engagement rings — moissanite sits at 9.25 on the Mohs scale with a higher refractive index than diamond, which is where its extra fire comes from. See moissanite meaning for the background.
