The Design
Vesper is built around the stone. The elongated hexagon runs north–south along the finger, held in a full bezel with a fine milgrain edge, so the labradorite sits low and protected rather than up on prongs. Either side, the band opens into a pair of scrolled shoulders — a curl of silver on each side, with a small cluster of round cubic zirconia tucked into the curve — before narrowing back to a plain polished shank.
The effect is closer to an antique than a modern geometric ring: the hexagon gives it structure, the scrolls soften it, and the milgrain ties the two together. Our vintage engagement ring guide covers the details that make a ring read as period, and our hexagon engagement rings collection has the rest of the shape.
If you are weighing it against a classic solitaire, our buyer's guide to non-traditional engagement rings is the honest place to start.
The Labradorite
Labradorite is a feldspar known for labradorescence — a flash of blue, green or gold that moves across the stone as it turns, caused by light scattering between thin layers inside the crystal. This stone is a smoky gray-blue body with a blue flash; the color shifts with the angle, so it reads differently on the hand than it does in a photograph.
Every labradorite is unique. The flash pattern, the body tone and the fine internal inclusions vary from stone to stone, so the ring you receive will be its own — close to the one pictured, never identical. The stone is cut with a flat table and a shallow facet border, which keeps the flash visible across the whole face.
At 6–6.5 on the Mohs scale labradorite is softer than sapphire or moissanite. It wears well in a bezel — the setting takes the knocks the stone would otherwise take — but it is a ring to take off for the gym, the garden and the sink. Our guide to the best gemstones for engagement rings sets out where it sits.
Metal
The band is solid 925 sterling silver with a rhodium finish — the same platinum-group metal used on white gold, giving the bright mirror surface and shielding the silver from tarnishing.

Care
Clean with warm water, mild soap and a soft cloth. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners, steam, chlorine and abrasive polishes — they are hard on both the labradorite and the rhodium finish. Store the ring apart from harder jewelry so nothing scratches the stone.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the labradorite real?
Yes. It is natural, mined labradorite — not glass, not a simulant. The blue flash is the stone's own labradorescence.
Will my stone look like the photo?
Close, but not identical. Labradorite varies stone to stone in body tone and flash pattern, and the flash itself changes with the angle of light. Yours will be its own.
Is labradorite durable enough for an engagement ring?
With care. It is 6–6.5 on the Mohs scale, so softer than sapphire or moissanite, but the full bezel protects the edges and the stone sits low. Take it off for heavy work and it will wear well.
Is labradorite a birthstone?
No. Labradorite is not a traditional birthstone, which is part of its appeal — it is chosen for the stone itself rather than a date.
What does the hexagon shape mean?
Nothing formal — it is a modern cut that gives the stone clean lines and a slightly longer look on the finger than an oval of the same size.
What is the ring made of?
Solid 925 sterling silver throughout, hallmarked, with a rhodium finish for a bright white surface. No brass or base metal.
Will the silver tarnish?
The rhodium finish acts as a barrier, so it resists the darkening untreated sterling develops. The finish does wear thin after years of daily wear — we can refinish the ring when it does.
What sizes are available?
Sizes 4 through 11, including every half size. If you are between sizes, our ring sizer is the safest way to check before ordering.
Can I have it engraved?
Yes. Engraving is available on the inner band, up to 16 characters, and can be added as an option at checkout.
Is it available in gold?
Yes — this design can be made in solid 10K, 14K or 18K gold as a custom order, with moissanite or lab-grown diamond accents if you prefer them to cubic zirconia.
Are the stones ethically sourced?
Yes. All Aquamarise stones are conflict-free and responsibly sourced, and every order arrives in a free luxury velvet jewelry box.
