The Cordelia belongs to an older idea of glamour — the kind that filled ballrooms before anyone thought to photograph them. A royal-blue oval sapphire, 6 × 8 mm and about 1.4 carats, rises from a polished white gold band lined with white accent stones: a blue sapphire engagement ring in white gold with the poise of a vintage heirloom and the durability of a stone made for daily wear.
The Blue That Started the Tradition
Long before diamonds claimed the engagement finger, royal courts sealed engagements with blue sapphires — the stone of loyalty, wisdom, and promises kept. The Cordelia’s center is a lab-grown blue sapphire: genuine corundum, identical in chemistry and Mohs 9 hardness to a mined stone, with the deep, even royal blue that mined sapphires are graded against. What the lab changes is not the stone but the story around it — fully conflict-free, with color you can count on. Our sapphire meaning guide traces the lore; the full sapphire engagement rings collection shows how many ways we set it.
A Vintage Silhouette, Drawn in White Gold
The Cordelia’s design language is borrowed from the heirloom rings of the early twentieth century: an elongated center stone, a slim polished band, and a run of small white accents that light the shoulders the way old pavé once did. Nothing about it shouts; everything about it composes. If that era speaks to you, our vintage and antique-style engagement rings continue the theme, and the oval engagement rings collection gathers the shape across every stone.
Accent Stones: Moissanite or Natural Diamond
Choose the accents from the drop-down. Moissanite comes in D color and VVS1 clarity — near-flawless, brilliantly white, Mohs 9. Natural diamonds are G/H color, eye-clean I1 clarity, conflict-free, Mohs 10. Both read as pure white against the royal blue; moissanite adds a touch more spectral fire, diamond keeps the sparkle traditional.
White Gold Three Ways, or Platinum
The band is cast solid in your chosen metal — the color runs through every millimeter and is permanent:
- 10K white gold — the hardest and most affordable gold option.
- 14K white gold — the most popular balance of strength, purity, and value.
- 18K white gold — the richest gold content of the three.
- Platinum — naturally white, the densest choice, and hypoallergenic.

Sizing & Care
Choose your size from the drop-down — half and quarter sizes are available. If you are unsure, our ring size guide is the place to start; jewelers’ sizers and mandrels can differ by up to half a size, so measuring first is worth it.
Care is refreshingly ordinary: warm water, a drop of mild dish soap, a soft brush under the setting, and a lint-free cloth. Sapphire’s Mohs 9 hardness means the stone itself needs no special protection from daily life.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a real sapphire?
Yes. The Cordelia’s center is a lab-grown blue sapphire — genuine corundum with the same chemistry, Mohs 9 hardness, and brilliance as a mined sapphire, differing only in origin. That origin makes it conflict-free and gives it exceptionally even color.
What are the center stone’s specifications?
An oval-cut blue sapphire measuring approximately 6.0 x 8.0 mm and weighing about 1.4 carats, rated 9 on the Mohs hardness scale.
Why is blue sapphire a classic engagement stone?
Blue sapphires sealed engagements in royal courts centuries before diamond solitaires became the default, symbolizing loyalty, wisdom, and fidelity. Choosing one places a ring inside that older tradition.
What makes the design vintage-inspired?
The Cordelia borrows the vocabulary of early twentieth-century heirloom rings: an elongated center stone, a slim polished band, and small white accents lighting the shoulders. It reads as an heirloom rather than a trend.
Is sapphire durable enough for daily wear?
Yes. At Mohs 9, sapphire is second only to diamond among traditional gems. It shrugs off the scratches of everyday life, which is exactly why it has centuries of history on the engagement finger.
Will the blue stay this deep?
Yes. The royal blue comes from trace elements locked inside the crystal, so the color is permanent — it cannot wash out or dull with cleaning or age.
Moissanite or natural diamond accents — which should I choose?
Moissanite accents (D, VVS1, Mohs 9) are nearly flawless and show a little more rainbow fire. Natural diamond accents (G/H, eye-clean I1, conflict-free, Mohs 10) give the traditional white sparkle. Either flatters the blue; the choice is taste and budget.
Which metal should I select?
10K white gold is the hardest and most affordable, 14K is the most popular all-rounder, 18K has the richest gold content, and platinum is naturally white, the most substantial, and hypoallergenic for sensitive skin.
Is the metal solid or plated?
Solid in every option — white gold or platinum all the way through, never plated or gold-filled, so the finish is permanent.
Can a matching wedding band be added later?
Yes. The slim 2.0 mm band profile pairs easily with most wedding bands, and we can advise on a match — contact us and we will help you plan the pairing.
Can I have the ring engraved?
Yes — complimentary engraving of up to 16 characters is included with your order.
How long does it take to make?
The Cordelia is made to order; please allow 3-5 weeks for crafting. Requested modifications may extend the timeline and adjust pricing.
Is an appraisal available?
Yes. Select the optional appraisal from the drop-down menu; the appraisal fee is non-refundable once the work has been performed.
✨ Production time

- Made-to-order solid gold and platinum: 3–6 weeks, depending on the design. Pavé settings, custom sizing and engraving sit at the longer end.

- USPS Ground Advantage — free on every order
- FedEx Home Delivery® — $10
- FedEx 2Day® — $22

We ship worldwide with DHL. Live rates for your address are calculated at checkout — usually DHL Express Worldwide, with DHL eCommerce Parcel Standard also offered to some destinations as a slower, lower-cost option.

Every order ships fully insured and requires a signature. Full details on our Shipping & Delivery page.
Engraving is cut into the inside of the band, so it stays between the two of you.
AVAILABILITY
Engraving is offered on most — though not all — designs. If it is available for this ring, an engraving field appears with the options above.

Limits depend on the width and design of the band. Spaces count toward the total.

• Men’s rings: up to 25 characters
FONT AND SYMBOLS
Standard engraving is complimentary and set in Arial, chosen because it stays legible at very small sizes. These symbols are included at no extra cost:

Frequently Asked Questions
Every ring on this page is made in solid gold or platinum — never plated, never gold-filled. Solid gold comes in 10K, 14K and 18K across yellow, white and rose; our platinum is 95% pure, naturally hypoallergenic, and white the whole way through. Available metals vary by design and are listed in the selector above. Our Precious Metal Guide explains how each one wears.
Side by side and brand new, the two look almost identical. The difference shows up over years of wear.
White gold is a gold alloy finished with rhodium for brightness. It sits lighter on the hand and costs less, and the rhodium finish is refreshed every few years to keep it crisp.
Platinum is white all the way through, so there is no finish to renew. It is around 40% denser — noticeably weightier — and over time develops a soft matte patina that many people prefer. It can be polished back to a high shine whenever you like.
Our Platinum vs Gold guide compares durability, cost and upkeep in full.
Solid gold is gold throughout — alloyed for strength, but the same metal at the surface as at the core. Gold vermeil is sterling silver with a layer of gold applied over it, which thins with wear and needs replating to stay bright. Rings on this page are solid gold or platinum only. Our Precious Metal Guide sets out where each makes sense.
Neither tarnishes. Gold and platinum are two of the most stable metals used in fine jewelry, and both hold their color indefinitely. Platinum does develop a satin patina as it is worn — that is surface texture rather than damage, and it polishes out at any time. Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush is all either metal asks for; see our Jewelry Care Guide.
Nothing on this page is pulled from a shelf. Each solid gold and platinum ring is cast, set and finished for your order, which takes 3 to 6 weeks depending on the design — pavé settings, custom sizing and engraving sit at the longer end. Shipping is added once your ring is finished, and paying for faster shipping speeds up transit only — it does not shorten production. Full timings are on our Shipping & Delivery page.
Use the Size Chart linked beside the Add to Bag button, or our full Ring Size Chart. Because these rings are made to order, we cut your size from the start rather than resizing a stock band — so measure carefully. Your first resizing is free if it is still not right. Most designs can be adjusted, though eternity bands and rings with stones set the whole way around usually cannot.
On most designs, yes — if engraving is available for this ring, a text field appears with the options above. Standard engraving is complimentary: up to 16 characters on women’s rings and 25 on men’s, set in Arial, with a small selection of symbols included. Custom fonts and symbols are $25 and are arranged before you order. See the Engraving page for what is possible. Engraved rings are final sale.
Returns and exchanges are accepted within 14 days of delivery on unworn rings in original condition. Because solid gold and platinum rings are made to order, they are subject to a restocking fee, and engraved pieces are final sale. Full terms are on our Returns & Refunds page. Every ring is also covered by our lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.
