A 6×8mm oval lab-grown white sapphire in a milgrain bezel, flanked by two trillion-cut black onyx, crowned above and below by small white accents, and carried on a band carved into overlapping leaves the whole way around. 14K rose gold vermeil over solid 925 sterling silver. Sizes 4 to 11.
Lab-Grown White Sapphire 6×8mm Oval Center Trillion Black Onyx Carved Leaf Band 14K Rose Gold Vermeil Sizes 4–11
Three Colors, One Ring
White
The sapphire is colorless and bright — the only thing on the ring that throws light rather than holding it.
Black
The two onyx trillions read as solid shadow. They give the centre stone an edge to sit against, which is what stops a white stone in warm metal from going soft.
Rose
Warm gold underneath both. Rose against black is a harder contrast than rose against white, and it is what makes this read gothic rather than romantic.
Most nature-inspired rings are all one temperature — green stone, warm metal, soft edges. Putting black onyx into a leaf band is the decision that makes this one different, and it is why the ring works for people who want the botanical shape without the cottagecore softness.
The Lab-Grown White Sapphire
Sapphire is corundum, and corundum is a 9 on the Mohs scale — second only to diamond. For a ring worn every day that hardness matters more than almost any other property, and it is the reason white sapphire has been the standard diamond alternative for over a century.
This stone is lab-grown: the same chemistry, the same 9 hardness, the same optical behavior as mined corundum, grown rather than dug. White sapphire reads differently from diamond up close — more like water than like fire, with a soft white brightness instead of rainbow flash. Some people prefer it for exactly that reason. At 6 × 8 mm it covers a good stretch of finger, roughly the face-up size of a 1.5 carat oval. Our complete sapphire engagement ring guide covers the stone in depth.
The Black Onyx
Two trillion-cut black onyx sit tight against the bezel, one on each side. Onyx is chalcedony — the same family as agate — in a solid, opaque black with no visible banding, and at 6.5–7 on the Mohs scale it is a genuinely wearable stone rather than a decorative one.
The trillion cut is doing real work here. A triangle points its widest edge at the centre stone and its apex out toward the leaves, which pulls the eye inward instead of letting it drift along the band. Our guide to black rings for women covers the wider style.
The Leaf Band
The band is not a plain shank with leaves added at the shoulders — the leaf pattern is carved continuously around the full circumference, so the ring looks the same from every angle and from the back of the hand. Each leaf is dimensioned with a raised central vein, which is what keeps the texture legible at a distance rather than reading as a blur of metal.
Above and below the centre stone sits a small arc of white accents: one round flanked by two smaller stones at the top, the same arrangement mirrored below. They lengthen the setting into a soft marquise silhouette without adding a halo.
What Vermeil Means
Vermeil is not plating on brass. It is a thick layer of real 14K rose gold over a core of solid 925 sterling silver — the legal definition requires both the sterling base and a substantial gold thickness. That means the ring is hypoallergenic and nickel-free all the way through, and it will never turn your finger green. Our guide to caring for vermeil jewelry has our full care advice.
Find it in our rose gold jewelry, nature-inspired engagement rings and alternative engagement rings collections. Sapphire is the September birthstone — our guide to birthstones by month has the full list.

Care
Vermeil asks for a little more care than plain silver, because the gold layer is a surface. Wipe with a soft, dry cloth — never a silver polishing cloth, which is abrasive and will thin the gold. Clean the stones with warm water, mild soap and a soft brush, paying attention to the carved leaves and the underside of the bezel where lotion collects. Put the ring on last, after perfume, hairspray and hand cream, and take it off for swimming, the gym and cleaning. Onyx is porous and dislikes chemicals, so keep it away from bleach and solvents, and skip ultrasonic cleaners entirely.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the white sapphire real?
Yes. It is a genuine sapphire — corundum — lab-grown rather than mined. Identical chemistry, identical 9 Mohs hardness, identical optical behavior. The difference is origin, not authenticity.
Does white sapphire look like a diamond?
Similar from across a room, different up close. A diamond throws rainbow fire; white sapphire gives a softer, more watery white brightness. Plenty of people choose it deliberately for that quieter look rather than as a compromise.
How big is the centre stone?
6 × 8 mm, oval cut — roughly the face-up size of a 1.5 carat oval diamond.
Is the black onyx natural?
Yes. Onyx is a natural chalcedony, the same mineral family as agate, in a solid opaque black. Two trillion-cut stones flank the centre.
Is it real gold?
Yes — 14K rose gold vermeil, a thick layer of real 14K rose gold over solid 925 sterling silver. Not plating over brass.
Will it turn my finger green?
No. The core is solid sterling silver, nickel-free and hypoallergenic — there is no brass or base metal anywhere in it.
How long will the rose gold last?
Years with sensible care. Keep it away from perfume, chlorine and abrasive cloths. Vermeil is a surface layer, so friction and chemicals are what wear it, not time.
Are the small white stones diamonds?
No. They are simulated diamonds — cubic zirconia — set above and below the centre stone. Moissanite or lab-grown diamond accents are available as a custom order.
Is the leaf pattern all the way around?
Yes. The carving continues the full circumference, so the ring reads the same from the back of the hand as it does from the front.
Can it be resized?
Within about one size. Resizing a carved band means cutting through the leaf pattern, so we keep adjustments small and re-plate the ring afterwards so the colour stays even. Resizing starts from $45 — ordering the correct size is much better.
Is sapphire a birthstone?
Yes — sapphire is the September birthstone, in every colour including white.
Can I have it engraved?
Yes. Engraving is available on the inner band, up to 16 characters, added as an option at checkout. Engraved items are final sale.
