The Design
The band is straight and slim, and the story runs along the top of it: a single opal in the middle, a crescent moon on each side with its points turned toward the stone, and three round moissanites beyond each moon. Worn alone it is a celestial stacking band; worn beneath the Selene wing ring, sold separately, the moons sit under the wings and the two read as one piece. The same band is also made in black ruthenium with a padparadscha sapphire and black onyx.
Selene is named for the Greek goddess of the moon. The band sits naturally among our sterling silver rings and opal jewelry.
The Opal
The center is lab-created white fire opal, cut as a round cabochon and held in four prongs. It shows a play of color: patches of blue, green and pink that shift across a milky white body as the stone turns. No two stones carry the same pattern. Our guide to opal meaning covers what each color stands for.
The Moissanite and the Metal
The six small rounds are moissanite, a lab-grown stone with more fire than diamond and a hardness of 9.25 on the Mohs scale. They are not diamonds.
The band is solid 925 sterling silver with a rhodium finish, the same platinum-group metal used on white gold. The rhodium gives the bright white surface and shields the silver underneath from tarnishing.

Care
Opal is softer than most ring stones, 5.5 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale, so it asks for a little care. Take the band off for the gym, gardening and heavy cleaning. Clean with warm water, mild soap and a soft cloth. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners and household chemicals, which can harm the opal and wear the rhodium finish, and store the band in its velvet box rather than loose.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the opal natural?
No. It is lab-created opal. It shows a true play of color, with a brighter and more even pattern than most mined opal at this price.
Are the white accent stones diamonds?
No. They are moissanite, a lab-grown stone with more fire than diamond.
Does the wing ring come with it?
No. The Selene wing ring is sold separately. The two are designed to stack, with this band sitting beneath the wings.
Can I wear the band on its own?
Yes. On its own it is a slim celestial stacking band, and it also works as a wedding band against another engagement ring.
What is the band made of?
Solid 925 sterling silver throughout, with a rhodium finish for a bright white surface. No brass or base metal.
Will the silver tarnish?
The rhodium finish acts as a barrier, so it resists the darkening untreated sterling develops. The finish does wear thin after years of daily wear, and we can refinish the band when it does.
Is opal durable enough for everyday wear?
Opal is 5.5 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale. It works as a daily band with sensible care: remove it for manual work and avoid hard knocks.
What sizes are available?
Sizes 4 through 11, including every half size.
Can I have it engraved?
Yes. Engraving is available on the inner band, up to 16 characters, and can be added as an option at checkout.
Does it come with a ring box?
Yes. Every order arrives in a free luxury velvet jewelry box.
