A kite signet ring in solid 925 sterling silver. A kite-cut lab-grown forest green tourmaline sits in a full bezel at the center, framed by raised scrollwork, and a channel of round simulated diamonds runs down each shoulder. The band tapers from 6 mm at the top, polished to a mirror finish, in sizes 7 to 13.

The Design
A signet built around a stone rather than a seal. The tourmaline kite sits point-down in a full bezel, and the metal around it is raised into a pair of mirrored scrolls, so the stone reads as a crest at the top of the finger. A channel of round simulated diamonds runs from each scroll down the shoulder, held in a milgrained edge, and the band tapers from 6 mm at the head to a slim shank at the back, so it wears lighter than a straight band of the same width.
Our guides to men’s engagement rings and promise rings for men cover the wider category, gothic rings for men covers the dark-romance lane this scrollwork belongs to, and what hand an engagement ring goes on is worth a look if it is worn as one.
The Tourmaline
The center is lab-grown tourmaline in a deep forest green, grown with the same chemistry and 7 to 7.5 Mohs hardness as the mined stone. It is cut as a kite with a step-cut face, so the color shows as broad flashes of green rather than fine sparkle, and the darker tone reads almost black at the edges under indoor light. Tourmaline is an October birthstone; the October birthstone guide has more, and the green engagement rings guide places green tourmaline against emerald and moss agate.
Metal and Stones
The ring is solid 925 sterling silver with a rhodium finish, the same platinum-group metal used on white gold, giving the bright mirror surface and shielding the silver from tarnishing.
The center kite is lab-grown tourmaline. The small round stones in the channels are simulated diamond (cubic zirconia). Moissanite or lab-grown diamond accents are available as a custom order, as is this design in solid 14K gold.

Care
Tourmaline is 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale and suits daily wear; the bezel protects its edges. Clean with warm water, mild soap and a soft brush, paying attention to the scrollwork and the channels where the stones sit. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners and steam, and avoid abrasive polishes and chlorine, which wear the rhodium finish. A soft dry cloth brings the mirror polish back.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the tourmaline real?
It is lab-grown tourmaline: the same chemistry and hardness as the mined stone, grown in a lab rather than dug up. It is not a simulant. The small round stones in the channels are simulated diamond, which is cubic zirconia.
What shade of green is it?
A deep forest green. The step-cut kite shows the color in broad flashes, and the edges read almost black under warm indoor light.
Is tourmaline a birthstone?
Yes. Tourmaline is one of the October birthstones.
Is tourmaline durable enough for a daily ring?
Yes. Tourmaline is 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale and the full bezel protects its edges. The rhodium finish, not the stone, is the part to look after.
Is this a men's ring or unisex?
It is cut on men's sizes 7 to 13 and built as a signet, but nothing about the design is gendered; it wears the same on any hand.
What does tapered mean?
The band is 6 mm wide at the head where the stone sits and narrows toward the back of the finger, so it feels lighter than a straight 6 mm band.
Will the silver tarnish?
Not the way bare silver does. The ring is solid 925 sterling silver with a rhodium finish, which acts as a barrier against tarnish. After years of daily wear the finish can thin, and the ring can be refinished.
Can it be engraved like a seal?
The face is set with a stone rather than a flat seal, so there is no top engraving. Engraving is available on the inside of the band, up to 25 characters.
What sizes are available?
Sizes 7 through 13, including every half size. If you need a size outside that range, choose the custom size option and we will make it to order.
Are the stones ethically sourced?
Yes. All Aquamarise stones are conflict-free and responsibly sourced, and every order arrives in a free luxury velvet jewelry box.
