Some love stories are written in light; this one is carved in shadow and gold. The Celtic Knot Black Onyx Bridal Set pairs a 1.4 carat pear-cut natural black onyx with intricate knotwork in solid yellow gold — a gothic Celtic engagement ring set for couples who want their forever to look nothing like anyone else’s.
The Engagement Ring
A 1.4 carat pear-cut natural black onyx framed by hand-detailed Celtic knotwork, with bright moissanite accents that throw white fire against the deep black center stone.
The Contour Band
A matching curved band that echoes the Celtic knot motif and nests flush against the engagement ring, so the pair reads as one continuous design on the hand.
The knot with no beginning and no end
Celtic knotwork is drawn as a single unbroken line — no start, no finish — which is why it has symbolized eternity and interwoven lives for more than a thousand years. Here that ancient pattern wraps the center stone in warm solid gold, turning the setting itself into a vow. It is the kind of symbolism that anchors our Celtic engagement rings, carried into a two-ring bridal set where the contour band continues the knot across both rings.
A pear of pure midnight
The center stone is natural black onyx, cut as a 1.4 carat pear — a shape that tapers to a point like a drop of ink caught mid-fall. Onyx does not sparkle the way a faceted white stone does; instead it holds a deep, glassy, mirror-black luster that makes the gold look warmer and the moissanite look brighter by contrast. If dark stones speak to you, our guide to black onyx meaning traces the stone’s history from Roman signets to modern bridal jewelry, and the full black onyx engagement rings collection shows how versatile this gem can be.
Moissanite light against onyx dark
The accent stones are moissanite — a real lab-grown gemstone (silicon carbide) prized for throwing even more fire than diamond. Against the matte-dark onyx, those small bursts of rainbow-white brilliance read like stars against a night sky. It is an honest pairing: a natural dark gem and a genuine created gem, each doing what it does best, with no imitation involved.
Gothic romance, heirloom build
Dramatic without being costume, this set belongs to the world of gothic engagement rings — dark stones, symbolic metalwork, and a silhouette that feels pulled from an older century. Our guide to gothic wedding rings explores how couples style dark bridal jewelry for the big day, and if you are still deciding whether an unconventional stone is right for you, the non-traditional engagement ring guide is a helpful place to start. As a complete duo it also sits alongside our other wedding ring sets for women.
Choose your karat: 10K, 14K, or 18K solid yellow gold
Both rings are crafted in solid yellow gold all the way through — never plated, never hollow — and you choose the karat from the drop-down. 10K is the hardest and most affordable; 14K is our most popular balance of durability and rich color; 18K carries the highest gold content and the deepest, warmest hue. Other gold colors are available on request. For a full breakdown, see the 10K vs 14K vs 18K karat comparison guide.

Sizing & care
Choose your size from the drop-down menu. Sizing can vary slightly between jewelers — often up to half a size between ring sizers and mandrels — so if you are unsure, check our ring size guide before ordering.
Care is simple: clean the onyx with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap, avoid harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners, and prolonged soaking, and store the set separately from harder jewelry so the polished black surface keeps its mirror luster. Solid gold needs nothing more than the same gentle wash.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the black onyx a natural stone?
Yes. The 1.4 carat pear-cut center stone is natural black onyx, a chalcedony quartz valued for its deep, even black color and glassy luster. It is a true gemstone in its own right — not a diamond and not an imitation of one.
What exactly is included in this set?
The set includes the Celtic knot engagement ring with its pear-cut black onyx center, the matching contour wedding band, a luxury ring box, and free U.S. shipping.
Are the accent stones diamonds?
No — they are moissanite, a real lab-grown gemstone made of silicon carbide. Moissanite actually shows more fire and rainbow sparkle than diamond, which is exactly why it was chosen to light up the dark onyx center.
Which gold karat should I choose?
All three options are solid yellow gold, so it comes down to durability, color, and budget. 10K is the hardest and most affordable, 14K is the classic balance most of our customers pick, and 18K has the richest, warmest color with the highest gold purity. Our karat comparison guide walks through the differences in detail.
Is this real solid gold?
Yes. Both rings are crafted from solid gold throughout in your chosen karat — 10K, 14K, or 18K — never plated or gold-filled. The warm yellow color is permanent because it is the metal itself, not a coating.
What does the Celtic knot symbolize?
Celtic knots are drawn as one continuous, unbroken line with no beginning and no end, which is why they have long stood for eternity, loyalty, and two lives woven together. On a bridal set, the symbolism is hard to beat.
Is black onyx durable enough for daily wear?
Onyx is a chalcedony quartz and handles everyday wear well with simple habits: take the rings off for heavy work or gym sessions, keep them away from harsh chemicals, and store them apart from harder stones that could scratch the polished surface.
How do I clean and care for the set?
Wipe both rings with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners, harsh chemicals, and prolonged soaking, and dry the rings before storing them in their box. That routine keeps both the onyx and the gold looking their best.
Can the two rings be worn separately?
Yes. Each ring carries the Celtic knot design on its own, so the engagement ring works as a standalone statement and the contour band wears beautifully as a solo stacking or wedding ring.
How long does production take?
This set is made to order. Please allow 2 to 6 weeks for production before shipment. Requested modifications can extend the timeline.
How do I find my ring size?
Choose your size from the drop-down. Because sizing can vary up to half a size between jewelers’ tools, we recommend checking our ring size guide at aquamarise.com/pages/find-your-size before you order.
Does this qualify as a gothic engagement ring?
Very much so. A dark natural stone, symbolic metalwork, and dramatic contrast against warm gold are the signatures of the gothic bridal style — this set simply adds Celtic heritage on top of them.
Can I get this set in a different gold color?
The set is offered in yellow gold in 10K, 14K, or 18K, and other gold colors are available on request — reach out before ordering and we will confirm options and any timeline changes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Every ring on this page is made in solid gold or platinum — never plated, never gold-filled. Solid gold comes in 10K, 14K and 18K across yellow, white and rose; our platinum is 95% pure, naturally hypoallergenic, and white the whole way through. Available metals vary by design and are listed in the selector above. Our Precious Metal Guide explains how each one wears.
Side by side and brand new, the two look almost identical. The difference shows up over years of wear.
White gold is a gold alloy finished with rhodium for brightness. It sits lighter on the hand and costs less, and the rhodium finish is refreshed every few years to keep it crisp.
Platinum is white all the way through, so there is no finish to renew. It is around 40% denser — noticeably weightier — and over time develops a soft matte patina that many people prefer. It can be polished back to a high shine whenever you like.
Our Platinum vs Gold guide compares durability, cost and upkeep in full.
Solid gold is gold throughout — alloyed for strength, but the same metal at the surface as at the core. Gold vermeil is sterling silver with a layer of gold applied over it, which thins with wear and needs replating to stay bright. Rings on this page are solid gold or platinum only. Our Precious Metal Guide sets out where each makes sense.
Neither tarnishes. Gold and platinum are two of the most stable metals used in fine jewelry, and both hold their color indefinitely. Platinum does develop a satin patina as it is worn — that is surface texture rather than damage, and it polishes out at any time. Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush is all either metal asks for; see our Jewelry Care Guide.
Nothing on this page is pulled from a shelf. Each solid gold and platinum ring is cast, set and finished for your order, which takes 3 to 6 weeks depending on the design — pavé settings, custom sizing and engraving sit at the longer end. Shipping is added once your ring is finished, and paying for faster shipping speeds up transit only — it does not shorten production. Full timings are on our Shipping & Delivery page.
Use the Size Chart linked beside the Add to Bag button, or our full Ring Size Chart. Because these rings are made to order, we cut your size from the start rather than resizing a stock band — so measure carefully. Your first resizing is free if it is still not right. Most designs can be adjusted, though eternity bands and rings with stones set the whole way around usually cannot.
On most designs, yes — if engraving is available for this ring, a text field appears with the options above. Standard engraving is complimentary: up to 16 characters on women’s rings and 25 on men’s, set in Arial, with a small selection of symbols included. Custom fonts and symbols are $25 and are arranged before you order. See the Engraving page for what is possible. Engraved rings are final sale.
Returns and exchanges are accepted within 14 days of delivery on unworn rings in original condition. Because solid gold and platinum rings are made to order, they are subject to a restocking fee, and engraved pieces are final sale. Full terms are on our Returns & Refunds page. Every ring is also covered by our lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.
