“Toi et moi” is French for “you and me” — and no setting says it more literally. This toi et moi sapphire ring sets an emerald-cut lab-grown blue sapphire beside a pear-shaped moissanite, two distinct stones leaning into one another the way two lives do: different in character, inseparable by design, cast in solid white gold or platinum.
A Setting That Tells Your Story
The toi et moi is one of history’s great romantic designs: two stones on a single band, each one standing for a partner in the pair. It has marked engagements, anniversaries, and quiet promises for more than two centuries, and it remains the rare setting whose meaning is visible at a glance. If the style is new to you, our guide to what a toi et moi ring means traces its history, and our full collection of toi et moi engagement rings shows how differently the idea can be told.
Two Stones, Two Characters
The pairing works because the stones refuse to match. The emerald-cut blue sapphire (5.0 x 7.0 mm) is the calm half — long, mirror-like facets that flash in broad planes of deep, serene blue. It is lab-grown, which means it is genuine sapphire: real corundum with the same chemistry and Mohs 9 hardness as a mined stone, carrying sapphire’s old promises of wisdom, loyalty, and everlasting love. Our sapphire meaning guide and our primer on choosing a sapphire ring tell that story in full.
The pear-shaped moissanite (5.0 x 7.0 mm, approx. 0.8 carats) is the fire. Graded D color and VVS1 clarity, moissanite is a genuine lab-grown gemstone — silicon carbide, 9.25 on the Mohs scale — with even more brilliance and fire than a diamond. Side by side, the vivid blue and the icy white sharpen each other in a way neither stone manages alone.
Solid Gold and Platinum Options
Every metal in the drop-down is solid, never plated. 10K white gold is the hardest and most affordable; 14K white gold is the most popular all-rounder for strength, color, and value; 18K white gold carries the richest gold content; and platinum is naturally white, the densest of the four, and hypoallergenic for sensitive skin. Our 10K vs 14K vs 18K karat guide breaks down the trade-offs, and you can see the whole tier in our solid gold rings collection. Whichever you choose, the setting wraps both stones together in one graceful line.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does “toi et moi” mean?
It is French for “you and me.” The design sets two stones side by side on one band, each representing a partner — a symbol of two souls intertwined that has been used in engagement rings for over two centuries.
Is the blue sapphire real?
Yes. It is a lab-grown blue sapphire — genuine sapphire, real corundum with the same chemistry, color, and Mohs 9 hardness as a mined stone, making it an excellent choice for everyday wear.
Is the moissanite a diamond?
No — and it is not trying to be. Moissanite is a genuine lab-grown gemstone in its own right (silicon carbide), rated 9.25 on the Mohs scale, with even more fire and brilliance than a diamond of the same size.
What size are the two stones?
Both measure 5.0 x 7.0 mm, so the pair sits in balance. The pear-shaped moissanite weighs approximately 0.8 carats and is graded D color, VVS1 clarity.
Why pair an emerald cut with a pear shape?
Contrast is the point of a toi et moi. The emerald cut’s long, open facets give calm, glassy flashes of blue, while the pear’s brilliant faceting throws white fire — two different personalities sharing one band.
Is this ring solid gold?
Yes. Every option is solid metal through and through — solid 10K, 14K, or 18K white gold, or platinum. Nothing is plated.
Which metal should I choose?
10K white gold is the hardest and most affordable; 14K is the most popular balance of strength, color, and value; 18K carries the richest gold content; platinum is naturally white, densest, and hypoallergenic. Our karat comparison guide covers the details.
Is a toi et moi ring appropriate as an engagement ring?
Absolutely. Toi et moi rings are beloved precisely for engagements, and they also make meaningful anniversary rings or statement pieces — any occasion where the two-stone symbolism fits the story.
Can the ring be engraved?
Yes — complimentary engraving is included, with a limit of 16 characters.
How long does it take to make?
The ring is made to order; please allow 3–5 weeks for it to be handmade for you. Requested modifications are subject to revised production timelines and pricing.
Can I choose different gemstones?
Yes — different gemstone options are available. Contact us for a custom quote.
How do I find my ring size?
Sizing can vary up to half a size between jewelers’ sizers and mandrels, so we recommend checking our ring size guide at aquamarise.com/pages/find-your-size before ordering.
How should I care for the ring?
Both stones are harder than almost everything they will meet in a day. Clean with warm water, a drop of mild dish soap, and a soft brush, then pat dry, and store the ring in its luxury box when not worn.
Is an appraisal available?
Yes — an optional appraisal can be selected from the drop-down menu. The appraisal cost is non-refundable once the work has been performed.
✨ Production time

Engraving is offered on most — though not all — designs. If it is available for this ring, an engraving field appears with the options above.

Frequently Asked Questions
Every ring on this page is made in solid gold or platinum — never plated, never gold-filled. Solid gold comes in 10K, 14K and 18K across yellow, white and rose; our platinum is 95% pure, naturally hypoallergenic, and white the whole way through. Available metals vary by design and are listed in the selector above. Our Precious Metal Guide explains how each one wears.
Side by side and brand new, the two look almost identical. The difference shows up over years of wear.
White gold is a gold alloy finished with rhodium for brightness. It sits lighter on the hand and costs less, and the rhodium finish is refreshed every few years to keep it crisp.
Platinum is white all the way through, so there is no finish to renew. It is around 40% denser — noticeably weightier — and over time develops a soft matte patina that many people prefer. It can be polished back to a high shine whenever you like.
Our Platinum vs Gold guide compares durability, cost and upkeep in full.
Solid gold is gold throughout — alloyed for strength, but the same metal at the surface as at the core. Gold vermeil is sterling silver with a layer of gold applied over it, which thins with wear and needs replating to stay bright. Rings on this page are solid gold or platinum only. Our Precious Metal Guide sets out where each makes sense.
Neither tarnishes. Gold and platinum are two of the most stable metals used in fine jewelry, and both hold their color indefinitely. Platinum does develop a satin patina as it is worn — that is surface texture rather than damage, and it polishes out at any time. Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush is all either metal asks for; see our Jewelry Care Guide.
Nothing on this page is pulled from a shelf. Each solid gold and platinum ring is cast, set and finished for your order, which takes 3 to 6 weeks depending on the design — pavé settings, custom sizing and engraving sit at the longer end. Shipping is added once your ring is finished, and paying for faster shipping speeds up transit only — it does not shorten production. Full timings are on our Shipping & Delivery page.
Use the Size Chart linked beside the Add to Bag button, or our full Ring Size Chart. Because these rings are made to order, we cut your size from the start rather than resizing a stock band — so measure carefully. Your first resizing is free if it is still not right. Most designs can be adjusted, though eternity bands and rings with stones set the whole way around usually cannot.
On most designs, yes — if engraving is available for this ring, a text field appears with the options above. Standard engraving is complimentary: up to 16 characters on women’s rings and 25 on men’s, set in Arial, with a small selection of symbols included. Custom fonts and symbols are $25 and are arranged before you order. See the Engraving page for what is possible. Engraved rings are final sale.
Returns and exchanges are accepted within 14 days of delivery on unworn rings in original condition. Because solid gold and platinum rings are made to order, they are subject to a restocking fee, and engraved pieces are final sale. Full terms are on our Returns & Refunds page. Every ring is also covered by our lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.
