A teardrop tanzanite ring set that reads like a love letter in two parts: a pear-cut natural tanzanite of approximately 1.8 carats rises from a twisted engagement band, while a delicately contoured chevron wedding band traces its silhouette in perfect harmony. Both rings are made to order in solid 10K, 14K, or 18K white gold — or platinum — and finished with the accent stones you choose.
The Engagement Ring
A pear-cut natural tanzanite held above a twisted band — two strands of solid gold winding together, a quiet symbol of two lives intertwining.
The Wedding Band
A contoured chevron band that nests against the engagement ring, its gentle V framing the teardrop rather than hiding it. Both bands carry matching accent stones.
Why the teardrop cut suits tanzanite
The pear cut — the teardrop — is the most romantic silhouette in the lapidary vocabulary: a soft rounded base tapering to a single point of light. On this 6×8 mm tanzanite it does two things at once. It stretches the stone visually along the finger, so the approximately 1.8 carat center reads even larger than its weight, and it concentrates the stone’s blue-violet color toward the point, where it deepens like ink settling in water. Worn point-up or point-down, the shape elongates the hand the way few cuts can — a signature it shares with the styles in our pear-shaped engagement rings collection.
A band that tells your story twice
The engagement ring’s twisted band is the detail people notice second and remember first. Two ropes of solid precious metal wrap around each other the whole way around the finger — an old symbol for two paths becoming one — and the twist catches light from angles a plain band cannot. The matching chevron wedding band answers it with a contoured V that sits flush beneath the tanzanite. Together they stack cleanly, with your choice of moissanite or natural diamond accents running along both bands. As a coordinated pairing, the set sits naturally among our wedding ring sets for women.
Tanzanite: a one-source gemstone
Tanzanite is found in commercial quantities in exactly one place on Earth — a few square miles in northern Tanzania — which makes it one of the rarest blue gemstones you can put on a hand. Its color is a velvet blue-violet that shifts with the light: bluer under daylight, more purple under warm evening lamps. It is also the December birthstone, a lovely coincidence for winter proposals and December anniversaries alike. Read more about the stone’s short, remarkable history in our tanzanite meaning guide or our December birthstone guide, and see how it compares to its cousins across our tanzanite engagement rings.
Solid white gold or platinum — your choice of karat
Every set is crafted in solid precious metal, never plated. Choose from the drop-down menu:
- 10K white gold — the hardest and most affordable option, with the greatest everyday scratch resistance.
- 14K white gold — our best-selling balance of durability, gold content, and value, and the default for this design.
- 18K white gold — the highest gold content for the richest, most luxurious feel.
- Platinum — naturally white, denser than gold, and hypoallergenic for sensitive skin.
Rose gold and yellow gold are available on request. Not sure where to land? Our 10K vs 14K vs 18K karat comparison guide walks through the trade-offs, and you can browse the broader tier in our solid gold rings collection.
Choose your accent stones
Both bands are set with the accent stones you select:
- Moissanite — color D, clarity VVS1, hardness 9 on the Mohs scale. Icy-white brilliance with exceptional fire.
- Natural diamond — conflict-free, color G/H, clarity I1 (eye clean), hardness 10 on the Mohs scale.

Sizing & care
Tanzanite measures 6–6.5 on the Mohs hardness scale — a stone for mindful wear rather than rough duty. Remove the set before workouts, gardening, and household chemicals, and clean it with warm water, mild soap, and a soft brush; skip ultrasonic and steam cleaners. Stored apart from harder jewelry, the velvet blue-violet will look as deep on your tenth anniversary as it does today.
Ring sizing can vary up to half a size between jewelers’ sizers and mandrels, so please check our ring sizing guide before ordering. Each set is made to order — please allow 3–5 weeks for your rings to be handmade, and note that requested modifications may adjust production timelines and pricing. Complimentary engraving (up to 16 characters), a free luxury ring box, and free USA shipping are included. An optional appraisal can be selected from the drop-down menu; the appraisal cost is non-refundable once the work has been performed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the tanzanite in this set natural?
Yes. The center stone is a natural tanzanite, pear cut to 6×8 mm at approximately 1.8 carats, with the blue-violet color the stone is famous for.
What exactly is included in the set?
Two rings, sold together: the pear-cut tanzanite engagement ring on a twisted band, and a contoured chevron wedding band designed to nest against it. Both carry your chosen accent stones.
What metals can I choose?
Solid 10K, 14K, or 18K white gold, or platinum — all selectable from the drop-down menu. Rose gold and yellow gold are available on request.
Which karat of white gold should I pick?
10K is the hardest and most affordable, 14K is the most popular balance of durability and gold content, and 18K carries the highest gold content for the richest feel. All three are solid gold throughout.
Why choose platinum over white gold?
Platinum is naturally white, noticeably denser than gold, and hypoallergenic, which makes it a favorite for sensitive skin. Its color is permanent by nature.
What accent stone options are available?
Moissanite in color D and clarity VVS1 (Mohs 9), or conflict-free natural diamonds in color G/H and clarity I1, eye clean (Mohs 10). Choose either from the drop-down menu.
Is tanzanite durable enough for an engagement ring?
Tanzanite measures 6–6.5 on the Mohs scale, so it rewards mindful wear. Remove the ring for workouts, gardening, and cleaning chemicals, and it will stay beautiful for decades.
How do I clean the rings safely?
Use warm water, a drop of mild soap, and a soft brush, then pat dry. Avoid ultrasonic and steam cleaners, which are not recommended for tanzanite.
Is tanzanite a birthstone?
Yes — tanzanite is a December birthstone, which makes this set especially meaningful for December birthdays, winter proposals, and December anniversaries.
What does the twisted band symbolize?
The engagement band is formed of two strands of solid metal wound together — a traditional symbol of two lives intertwining into one path.
Can I have the rings engraved?
Yes. Complimentary engraving of up to 16 characters is included — a date, initials, or a few words that belong only to the two of you.
How long does production take?
Each set is made to order and takes 3–5 weeks to be handmade for you. Requested modifications may adjust the production timeline and pricing.
How do I make sure I order the right size?
Sizing can vary up to half a size between jewelers’ tools, so please check our ring sizing guide before ordering. If you are between sizes, our team is happy to help you choose.
Can I get an appraisal with my purchase?
Yes. An optional appraisal can be selected from the drop-down menu. Please note the appraisal cost is non-refundable once the work has been performed.
✨ Production time
Every ring on this page is cast, set and finished for your order. Nothing is taken from stock.
- Made-to-order solid gold and platinum: 3–6 weeks, depending on the design. Pavé settings, custom sizing and engraving sit at the longer end.
🚚 United States
Shipping is added once your ring is finished. These are the options you will see at checkout:
- USPS Ground Advantage — free on every order
- FedEx Home Delivery® — $10
- FedEx 2Day® — $22
- FedEx Overnight — $35
Please note: upgraded shipping speeds up transit only — it does not shorten the 3–6 week production time. Transit estimates begin the day your ring ships, not the day you order, and can vary with carrier delays. Shipping fees are non-refundable.
🌍 International
We ship worldwide with DHL. Live rates for your address are calculated at checkout — usually DHL Express Worldwide, with DHL eCommerce Parcel Standard also offered to some destinations as a slower, lower-cost option.
For many countries, duties and taxes can be prepaid at checkout for a smoother delivery — if prepaid, no additional fees are due on arrival. Customs fees are set by your country and are non-refundable once the order has shipped.
Every order ships fully insured and requires a signature. Full details on our Shipping & Delivery page.
Engraving is cut into the inside of the band, so it stays between the two of you.
AVAILABILITY
Engraving is offered on most — though not all — designs. If it is available for this ring, an engraving field appears with the options above.

Limits depend on the width and design of the band. Spaces count toward the total.

Standard engraving is complimentary and set in Arial, chosen because it stays legible at very small sizes. These symbols are included at no extra cost:

Frequently Asked Questions
Every ring on this page is made in solid gold or platinum — never plated, never gold-filled. Solid gold comes in 10K, 14K and 18K across yellow, white and rose; our platinum is 95% pure, naturally hypoallergenic, and white the whole way through. Available metals vary by design and are listed in the selector above. Our Precious Metal Guide explains how each one wears.
Side by side and brand new, the two look almost identical. The difference shows up over years of wear.
White gold is a gold alloy finished with rhodium for brightness. It sits lighter on the hand and costs less, and the rhodium finish is refreshed every few years to keep it crisp.
Platinum is white all the way through, so there is no finish to renew. It is around 40% denser — noticeably weightier — and over time develops a soft matte patina that many people prefer. It can be polished back to a high shine whenever you like.
Our Platinum vs Gold guide compares durability, cost and upkeep in full.
Solid gold is gold throughout — alloyed for strength, but the same metal at the surface as at the core. Gold vermeil is sterling silver with a layer of gold applied over it, which thins with wear and needs replating to stay bright. Rings on this page are solid gold or platinum only. Our Precious Metal Guide sets out where each makes sense.
Neither tarnishes. Gold and platinum are two of the most stable metals used in fine jewelry, and both hold their color indefinitely. Platinum does develop a satin patina as it is worn — that is surface texture rather than damage, and it polishes out at any time. Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush is all either metal asks for; see our Jewelry Care Guide.
Nothing on this page is pulled from a shelf. Each solid gold and platinum ring is cast, set and finished for your order, which takes 3 to 6 weeks depending on the design — pavé settings, custom sizing and engraving sit at the longer end. Shipping is added once your ring is finished, and paying for faster shipping speeds up transit only — it does not shorten production. Full timings are on our Shipping & Delivery page.
Use the Size Chart linked beside the Add to Bag button, or our full Ring Size Chart. Because these rings are made to order, we cut your size from the start rather than resizing a stock band — so measure carefully. Your first resizing is free if it is still not right. Most designs can be adjusted, though eternity bands and rings with stones set the whole way around usually cannot.
On most designs, yes — if engraving is available for this ring, a text field appears with the options above. Standard engraving is complimentary: up to 16 characters on women’s rings and 25 on men’s, set in Arial, with a small selection of symbols included. Custom fonts and symbols are $25 and are arranged before you order. See the Engraving page for what is possible. Engraved rings are final sale.
Returns and exchanges are accepted within 14 days of delivery on unworn rings in original condition. Because solid gold and platinum rings are made to order, they are subject to a restocking fee, and engraved pieces are final sale. Full terms are on our Returns & Refunds page. Every ring is also covered by our lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.
