What's in the set
Engagement Ring
Princess cut lab-grown diamond center stone (~1.20-1.30ct, D color, VVS clarity, IGI certified) set on point in kite orientation. Round brilliant + baguette diamond accent clusters flank the center.
Chevron Contour Band
V-shape chevron wedding band with brilliant round diamond accent at the peak. Designed to nest beneath the engagement ring. Matching solid 14K white gold.
The two rings work together as a complete bridal stack — the chevron contour band's V-shape fits below the engagement ring's center stone, with the band's peak accent diamond aligned just below the kite point of the center stone. Both rings can also be worn separately as standalone pieces. Men's matching band sold separately — contact us for coordinated couples set options.
The center stone: IGI-certified lab-grown diamond
The center stone is a 6.0×6.0mm princess cut lab-grown diamond, weighing approximately 1.20-1.30 carats (industry-standard range for this proportion). Grade specifications: D color (highest possible color grade — completely colorless), VVS clarity (Very Very Slightly Included — inclusions virtually invisible under 10× magnification), 10 Mohs hardness. The stone is IGI certified (International Gemological Institute), with a certificate of authenticity and unique serial number included with every order — the same certification standard used for natural mined diamonds at major jewelers.
Lab-grown diamond is chemically, physically, and optically identical to natural mined diamond — same carbon crystalline structure, same hardness, same brilliance, same fire, same scintillation. The only difference is origin: lab-grown diamonds are created in controlled laboratory conditions over weeks (using either HPHT — high pressure high temperature — or CVD — chemical vapor deposition — processes that replicate the conditions under which natural diamonds form in the earth's mantle), rather than mined from the earth over billions of years. Lab-grown diamonds at this D color, VVS clarity grade level deliver maximum diamond performance — completely colorless with virtually invisible inclusions, indistinguishable from top-tier natural diamonds even under professional gemological examination.
The kite orientation setting
The princess cut center stone is set on point — also called "kite orientation" — which rotates the square princess cut 45 degrees from the traditional flat orientation, creating a diamond-shape (rhombus) silhouette rather than a square one. The kite orientation is one of the most distinctive ways to set a princess cut diamond. It changes the visual character of the stone meaningfully: light catches differently across the rotated facets, the elongated vertical-horizontal axes give the stone a more dramatic presence on the hand, and the geometric diamond-shape silhouette reads as deliberately architectural rather than conventional square. For partners drawn to geometric, alternative, or non-traditional bridal aesthetics, the kite orientation transforms a classic princess cut into something distinctive within the engagement ring category.
The accent diamond clusters
Round brilliant lab-grown diamond accent clusters flank the kite-oriented center stone on both sides, with baguette-cut diamonds at the band shoulders adding linear geometric accents that complement the kite orientation of the center. Additional small round accents sit at the top and bottom points of the kite. All accent stones are lab-grown diamond to match the center stone tier — maintaining diamond authenticity throughout the entire ring rather than substituting CZ or other materials at the accent positions. The combination of multiple diamond cuts (princess center + round accents + baguette accents) creates layered geometric interest while keeping the entire ring within the diamond material family.
The chevron contour wedding band
The chevron V-shape contour band is designed to nest beneath the engagement ring. The V-shape fits below the engagement ring's center stone, creating a unified visual that frames the kite-oriented diamond from below. A single brilliant round diamond accent sits at the peak of the V — a delicate detail that completes the chevron line. The contour construction is the most elegant way to pair a wedding band with a kite-oriented engagement ring because the V-shape mirrors the bottom point of the kite orientation directly above it. Both rings worn together create a unified vertical-axis bridal stack composition.
Why solid 14K white gold matters
Solid 14K white gold is the metal itself, not a plating layer. The cool white-gold color is permanent and won't fade, the metal won't tarnish, and the ring is suitable for daily wear over decades. White gold creates a clean modern color story that lets the diamond brilliance read most vividly — the cool metal background doesn't compete with the diamond's white light return, allowing maximum visual impact for the center stone. White gold is the most popular metal choice for diamond engagement rings (alongside platinum) for exactly this reason. Solid gold rings can also be resized and passed down as family heirlooms.
Understanding the diamond grade — D color, VVS clarity
The center diamond's grade specifications matter for understanding the stone's quality tier:
- D color (highest possible): Diamonds are graded D through Z, with D being the highest grade — completely colorless. D color diamonds are extraordinarily rare in natural form and represent the top 1% of color quality. At lab-grown tier, D color is more accessible while still delivering identical visual quality to natural D color diamonds.
- VVS clarity (top-tier): Stands for "Very Very Slightly Included" — inclusions are virtually invisible even under 10× magnification by trained gemologists. The clarity grade scale runs FL (flawless) → IF → VVS1/VVS2 → VS1/VS2 → SI1/SI2 → I1-I3. VVS is the second-highest clarity tier, well above the "eye clean" threshold that buyers actually see in person.
- IGI certification: International Gemological Institute is one of the four major diamond grading laboratories (alongside GIA, AGS, and EGL). IGI is the leading certification body for lab-grown diamonds specifically. The certificate accompanying this ring includes the diamond's full grading report and unique serial number.
The combination of D color + VVS clarity at this carat weight represents the heirloom-tier quality grade for diamond engagement rings — well above the typical "good" diamond grade (G/H color, SI clarity) that most diamond rings use. At natural mined tier, this stone would cost significantly more; at lab-grown tier, the heirloom quality is accessible at fine jewelry pricing.
Why partners choose this set
This is the right engagement ring set for partners who want a traditional diamond engagement ring with non-traditional distinctive character — buyers who appreciate the classical symbolism of a diamond solitaire while also wanting the geometric distinctiveness of the kite orientation and the ethical/accessibility benefits of lab-grown origin. Popular as:
- An heirloom-quality engagement ring set for partners who want traditional diamond brilliance with distinctive geometric character
- A sustainable alternative to natural mined diamonds (lab-grown origin, no environmental disruption)
- A complete two-ring bridal stack purchase in one transaction
- A non-traditional alternative to round-cut solitaires for partners drawn to geometric cuts
- A meaningful 60th anniversary set (diamond is the traditional 60th anniversary stone)
- A coordinated bridal set that can later add a matching men's wedding band for a full couples set
- An April birthstone bridal set (diamond is the April birthstone)
- A permanent precious-metal ring intended to be passed down as a family heirloom

Custom options & sizing
This set is made to order. Please allow 2-6 weeks for production. The set is also available in 14K rose gold or yellow gold on request, or upgraded to 18K solid gold for additional cost — leave a note at checkout or contact us before ordering. Different gemstone options (alternative center stone, larger carat weight, custom modifications) are available on request — contact us for a custom quote.
Ring sizes can vary slightly between jewelers — between ring sizers and mandrels, your size can often vary up to a half size. Please reference our sizing guide before ordering. Both rings should be ordered in the same size since they're designed to be worn together as a stack.
Optional appraisal
You can add a written appraisal document from the drop-down menu when ordering — useful for insurance purposes or as part of a proposal package. The IGI certification is included with every order at no additional cost. Please note: the additional appraisal cost is non-refundable once the appraisal work has been performed.
Sizing & care
Standard fine jewelry care: store in a cloth pouch or jewelry box separated from harder jewelry (though diamond is the hardest material — it can scratch other gemstones, so separate storage protects the rest of your jewelry collection). Clean gently with a soft brush and warm soapy water, then dry with a soft cloth. Diamond is exceptionally durable (10 Mohs hardness) and resistant to scratching, chemical damage, and ultrasonic cleaning — though we still recommend gentle cleaning rather than ultrasonic for the prong and accent settings.
Solid 14K white gold rings can be resized within reason by a local jeweler — solid gold is forgiving for resizing, though the cluster setting + chevron construction add some complexity. The white gold typically receives a thin rhodium finish at manufacture for additional brightness; this can be refreshed at a local jeweler if it wears thin over years.
Princess cut diamond engagement ring FAQs
What's the actual carat weight?
The center diamond measures 6.0×6.0mm and weighs approximately 1.20-1.30 carats — industry-standard range for a princess cut at these dimensions (slight variation depends on the stone's depth proportions). Each individual stone is precisely measured and the exact carat weight is reflected in the included IGI certification. The accompanying certificate documents the precise weight of your specific stone.
Is the diamond real?
Yes. The center stone is a real lab-grown diamond — chemically, physically, and optically identical to natural mined diamond. Same carbon crystalline structure, same hardness (10 Mohs), same brilliance, same fire, same scintillation. The only difference is origin: lab-grown diamonds are created in controlled laboratory conditions using HPHT (high pressure high temperature) or CVD (chemical vapor deposition) processes that replicate the conditions under which natural diamonds form in the earth's mantle. Lab-grown diamonds are not simulated diamonds (CZ, moissanite) — they are genuine diamond with lab-controlled origin.
What does "IGI certified" mean?
IGI stands for International Gemological Institute, one of the four major diamond grading laboratories worldwide (alongside GIA, AGS, and EGL). IGI is the leading certification body for lab-grown diamonds specifically. The IGI certificate accompanying this ring includes a full grading report (verifying the diamond's exact carat weight, color, clarity, cut grade, and other quality metrics) along with a unique serial number that can be used to verify the stone's authenticity and origin. The certificate is included at no additional cost.
What do "D color" and "VVS clarity" mean?
Diamond color is graded D through Z, with D being the highest grade — completely colorless. D color is extraordinarily rare in natural form and represents the top 1% of color quality. VVS stands for "Very Very Slightly Included" — inclusions are virtually invisible even under 10× magnification by trained gemologists. VVS is the second-highest clarity tier (after FL/IF). Together, D color + VVS clarity represents heirloom-tier diamond quality — significantly above the typical engagement-ring tier (G/H color, SI clarity).
What is the kite orientation setting?
The princess cut center stone is set on point — also called kite orientation — which rotates the square princess cut 45 degrees from the traditional flat orientation, creating a diamond-shape (rhombus) silhouette rather than a square one. The kite orientation is one of the most distinctive ways to set a princess cut diamond. Light catches differently across the rotated facets, the elongated vertical-horizontal axes give the stone a more dramatic presence on the hand, and the geometric diamond-shape silhouette reads as deliberately architectural rather than conventional square.
Are the accent stones also real diamonds?
Yes. All accent stones in this ring (round brilliants + baguettes around the center, and the brilliant round at the peak of the chevron contour band) are lab-grown diamonds matching the center stone tier. Maintaining diamond authenticity throughout the entire ring keeps the visual quality consistent — every sparkle you see is genuine diamond brilliance, not a substitute material like CZ or moissanite.
What does the chevron contour band do?
The chevron V-shape contour band is designed to nest beneath the engagement ring — the V-shape fits below the engagement ring's center stone, creating a unified visual that frames the kite-oriented diamond from below. The contour construction is particularly elegant for kite-oriented engagement rings because the V-shape mirrors the bottom point of the kite directly above it. Both rings can also be worn separately if preferred.
How does lab-grown diamond compare to natural mined diamond?
Lab-grown and natural mined diamonds are chemically, physically, and optically identical — no visible difference even under professional gemological examination using standard equipment. The differences are: (1) origin (lab vs mined), (2) price (lab-grown typically 40-70% less than natural at equivalent grade), (3) environmental impact (lab-grown has lower environmental footprint), and (4) traditional resale value (natural diamonds have established resale market; lab-grown diamond resale market is still developing). Buyers choose lab-grown for the price-to-quality ratio and ethical/sustainable origin; natural mined is chosen for heritage and traditional resale value.
Is this real solid 14K white gold?
Yes. Both rings are crafted from solid 14K white gold throughout — the cool white-gold color is the metal itself, not a plating layer. The color is permanent, won't fade, won't wear off, and both rings are suitable for daily wear over decades. Solid gold rings can also be resized and passed down as family heirlooms. 14K white gold typically receives a thin rhodium finish at manufacture for additional brightness — this rhodium layer can be refreshed at any local jeweler if it wears thin over the years.
Can I get this in rose gold or yellow gold instead?
Yes. The standard option is 14K solid white gold, but we also offer 14K rose gold and 14K yellow gold on request. The metal can also be upgraded to 18K solid gold for an additional cost. Different gold colors create different visual relationships with the diamond — white gold maximizes the diamond's white brilliance through neutral contrast, rose gold creates a warm romantic color story, yellow gold creates a vintage classical feel.
How long does it take to make?
This set is made to order. Please allow 2-6 weeks for production. Requested modifications (different metals, sizing outside the standard range, larger center stone, alternative center stone) may extend the timeline and adjust pricing — we'll confirm everything with you before production begins.
Should both rings be the same size?
Yes. Both rings should be ordered in the same size since they're designed to be worn together as a stack on the same finger. Get professionally sized at a local jeweler before ordering, and if between sizes, go up rather than down.
Can these rings be resized after purchase?
Yes — solid gold rings can be resized within reason by a local jeweler. The cluster setting (engagement ring) and chevron point (contour band) add some complexity, so choose a skilled jeweler who can resize without disrupting the stone settings.
Is diamond durable enough for daily wear?
Yes — extraordinarily so. Diamond is rated 10 on the Mohs hardness scale, the highest possible — nothing in nature except another diamond can scratch a diamond. This makes diamond the most durable gemstone for engagement rings, far above ruby/sapphire (9 Mohs), alexandrite (8.5-9), morganite (7.5-8), garnet (6.5-7.5), and moonstone (6-6.5). Diamond is also chemically inert (doesn't react with chemicals, sweat, water) and extraordinarily resistant to thermal shock.
Is there a larger or smaller carat option?
Yes. We can custom-make this design with different center stone carat weights — common variations include 0.75ct (5.0×5.0mm), 1.50ct (6.5×6.5mm), or 2.00ct (7.0×7.0mm). Is there a matching men's wedding band?
This listing is for the women's two-ring bridal stack only. We can custom-make a coordinating men's wedding band in matching 14K white gold (plain or with pavé diamond accents) — contact us before ordering for a custom quote on a complete couples set.
How do I care for these rings?
Standard fine jewelry care: store in a cloth pouch or jewelry box separated from other jewelry (diamond is the hardest gemstone and can scratch softer materials). Clean gently with a soft brush and warm soapy water, then dry with a soft cloth. Diamond is exceptionally durable and resistant to chemical damage. We still recommend gentle cleaning rather than aggressive ultrasonic for the prong and accent settings to avoid stressing the metal.
