Some rings look inherited even when they are brand new. The Nesta is a vintage-styled alexandrite ring in white gold: a 6 x 8 mm oval lab-grown alexandrite wrapped in a halo of D/VVS1 moissanites, with ornate, marquise-inspired detailing running down the shoulders. In daylight the center stone holds a cool bluish green; by candlelight it turns purplish red — an heirloom that changes its mind after dark.
Vintage bones, modern stone
The Nesta’s design language is drawn from antique jewelry: an ornate halo, sculpted side detailing, and marquise-inspired accents along a polished band. It reads like a ring with a past — the kind of silhouette collectors hunt for among vintage and antique-style engagement rings — but it is built new, in solid white gold or platinum, around a gemstone the Victorians could only have dreamed of owning at this size. That contrast is the whole point: old-world romance, impossible stone.
The halo that keeps the light coming
Around the oval center runs a full halo of premium moissanites, D color and VVS1 clarity, chosen for maximum brilliance. A halo does two jobs here: it magnifies the ring’s presence on the hand, and it surrounds the color-change stone with steady white sparkle, so the alexandrite’s shift reads even more dramatically against it. It is a classic move from the playbook of our halo engagement rings, put to unusually good use.
A real alexandrite that changes color
The 6 x 8 mm oval center is lab-grown alexandrite — genuine alexandrite, the same chrysoberyl mineral as the mined gem, grown in a laboratory rather than pulled from the earth. Its color change is real and light-driven: bluish green under daylight and cool light, purplish red under warm evening light. Our guide to lab-grown vs natural alexandrite explains what shoppers actually need to know, and if you are weighing this stone against its closest rival, read alexandrite vs sapphire before you decide.
White gold or platinum, solid throughout
Every Nesta is made to order in the metal you choose from the drop-down menu — solid 10K white gold for the most durable and affordable option, 14K white gold for the classic balance of purity and strength, 18K white gold for the highest gold content, or platinum, naturally white, denser than gold, and superb for sensitive skin. Every option is hypoallergenic and solid metal through and through, so the color is permanent. Our 10K vs 14K vs 18K karat guide breaks down the differences, and you can see how cool-toned metals flatter color-change stones across our white gold jewelry.
A name from the romantasy shelf
If the name Nesta rings a bell, it should — it belongs to one of fantasy romance’s most fiercely loved heroines, and this design wears the association well: beautiful, a little sharp-edged, transformed by fire into something rarer. It sits naturally among our fantasy-inspired engagement rings and the wider ACOTAR-inspired jewelry collection, and alongside its siblings in our alexandrite engagement rings. For help choosing between them, our alexandrite engagement ring guide compares cuts, settings, and metals side by side.

Sizing & care
Select your size from the drop-down menu — half and quarter sizes are offered — and measure at home first with our ring size guide, since sizing tools can vary by up to half a size between jewelers. Alexandrite rates 8.5 on the Mohs hardness scale and moissanite 9.25, so the Nesta is genuinely built for daily wear. Clean it with warm water, mild soap, and a soft brush; dry gently, store it away from harder stones, and take it off for heavy lifting or work with harsh chemicals. Your ring arrives in a complimentary luxury ring box with free USA shipping.
Frequently asked questions
What makes the Nesta a vintage-style ring?
The design borrows the vocabulary of antique jewelry: a full halo, ornate sculpted detailing along the shoulders, and marquise-inspired accents on a polished band. It is newly made in solid metal, but the silhouette reads like an heirloom from another era.
Is the alexandrite genuine?
Yes. The center stone is lab-grown alexandrite, which is real alexandrite: the same chrysoberyl mineral as mined stones, with the same chemistry, the same 8.5 Mohs hardness, and the same true light-driven color change. It is grown in a laboratory, which is what makes a clean oval of this size attainable.
What does the color change look like?
Under daylight and cool white light the stone shows bluish green; under warm light such as candlelight, lamps, and evening interiors it shifts toward purplish red. The halo of white moissanite stays constant, which makes the center stone's transformation even more striking.
What are the halo stones?
The halo is set with premium moissanites in D color and VVS1 clarity. Moissanite is a real lab-grown gemstone with even more fire than diamond and a 9.25 Mohs hardness, so the halo sparkles intensely and wears extremely well.
How big is the center stone?
The oval alexandrite measures 6 x 8 mm. With the halo around it, the ring's overall face is noticeably larger, giving it real presence on the hand without the cost of a bigger center stone.
Which metal should I choose?
10K white gold is the most durable and budget-friendly; 14K white gold is the classic balance and our most popular choice; 18K white gold carries the highest gold content; and platinum is naturally white, denser, and the premium option for sensitive skin. Every option is solid metal in your chosen karat, so the color is permanent.
Is this ring really solid gold?
Yes. The Nesta is crafted in solid white gold in your chosen karat, or solid platinum. It is solid metal all the way through.
Is the Nesta hypoallergenic?
Yes. Both the solid white gold options and platinum are hypoallergenic, and platinum in particular is a superb choice for very sensitive skin.
Can I wear it every day?
Yes. Alexandrite rates 8.5 on the Mohs scale and moissanite 9.25, both well suited to daily wear, and the halo setting helps protect the center stone's edges. Remove it for heavy manual work and contact with harsh chemicals, as you would any fine ring.
How does alexandrite compare to sapphire?
They are close cousins in durability, with sapphire at 9 and alexandrite at 8.5 on the Mohs scale. The difference is personality: sapphire holds one saturated color, while alexandrite moves between bluish green and purplish red as the light changes. If you want a stone with a story to tell twice a day, alexandrite is the one.
Is the Nesta connected to the book character?
The ring shares its name with a beloved fantasy-romance heroine, and readers tend to see the resemblance: elegant, fierce, and transformed by fire. It is a favorite among fans of fantasy-inspired jewelry, though you certainly do not need to know the books to love the ring.
How do I find my ring size?
Measure at home with our online ring size guide before ordering. Ring sizers and mandrels vary slightly between jewelers, so readings can differ by up to half a size; half and quarter sizes are available in the drop-down menu.
How should I care for this ring?
Wash it occasionally with warm water, mild soap, and a soft brush, then pat dry. Store it separately from harder stones, and keep it away from abrasives and harsh household chemicals to keep both the alexandrite and the moissanite halo at full brilliance.

Frequently Asked Questions
Every ring on this page is made in solid gold or platinum — never plated, never gold-filled. Solid gold comes in 10K, 14K and 18K across yellow, white and rose; our platinum is 95% pure, naturally hypoallergenic, and white the whole way through. Available metals vary by design and are listed in the selector above. Our Precious Metal Guide explains how each one wears.
Side by side and brand new, the two look almost identical. The difference shows up over years of wear.
White gold is a gold alloy finished with rhodium for brightness. It sits lighter on the hand and costs less, and the rhodium finish is refreshed every few years to keep it crisp.
Platinum is white all the way through, so there is no finish to renew. It is around 40% denser — noticeably weightier — and over time develops a soft matte patina that many people prefer. It can be polished back to a high shine whenever you like.
Our Platinum vs Gold guide compares durability, cost and upkeep in full.
Solid gold is gold throughout — alloyed for strength, but the same metal at the surface as at the core. Gold vermeil is sterling silver with a layer of gold applied over it, which thins with wear and needs replating to stay bright. Rings on this page are solid gold or platinum only. Our Precious Metal Guide sets out where each makes sense.
Neither tarnishes. Gold and platinum are two of the most stable metals used in fine jewelry, and both hold their color indefinitely. Platinum does develop a satin patina as it is worn — that is surface texture rather than damage, and it polishes out at any time. Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush is all either metal asks for; see our Jewelry Care Guide.
Nothing on this page is pulled from a shelf. Each solid gold and platinum ring is cast, set and finished for your order, which takes 3 to 6 weeks depending on the design — pavé settings, custom sizing and engraving sit at the longer end. Shipping is added once your ring is finished, and paying for faster shipping speeds up transit only — it does not shorten production. Full timings are on our Shipping & Delivery page.
Use the Size Chart linked beside the Add to Bag button, or our full Ring Size Chart. Because these rings are made to order, we cut your size from the start rather than resizing a stock band — so measure carefully. Your first resizing is free if it is still not right. Most designs can be adjusted, though eternity bands and rings with stones set the whole way around usually cannot.
On most designs, yes — if engraving is available for this ring, a text field appears with the options above. Standard engraving is complimentary: up to 16 characters on women’s rings and 25 on men’s, set in Arial, with a small selection of symbols included. Custom fonts and symbols are $25 and are arranged before you order. See the Engraving page for what is possible. Engraved rings are final sale.
Returns and exchanges are accepted within 14 days of delivery on unworn rings in original condition. Because solid gold and platinum rings are made to order, they are subject to a restocking fee, and engraved pieces are final sale. Full terms are on our Returns & Refunds page. Every ring is also covered by our lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.
