One stone, one secret. This solitaire carries a 6.5 x 9 mm elongated cushion lab grown diamond — IGI certified, D color, VVS clarity, about 2 carats — in an open claw-prong basket of solid yellow gold, with a hidden halo of diamonds glowing beneath where only you know to look.
The elongated cushion: soft edges, long lines
An elongated cushion keeps the pillowy corners that make cushion cuts feel romantic, then stretches the outline into a graceful 6.5 x 9 mm rectangle that lengthens the finger the way ovals and emerald cuts do — while facing up with far more sparkle than a step cut. It is the shape for someone who finds rounds too common and princess cuts too sharp. Compare silhouettes across our cushion cut engagement rings to see how the elongated proportion changes the whole character of the stone.
A hidden halo only the wearer knows about
From above, this reads as a pure solitaire — one stone, nothing to distract from it. Tilt the hand and the secret shows: a delicate halo of lab-grown diamonds wraps the base of the center stone, below the girdle, throwing light upward through the gallery. It adds fire without adding footprint, which is why the hidden halo engagement ring has become the quiet favorite of minimalists who still want maximum light. The open basket setting with claw prongs leaves the pavilion exposed on all sides, so the roughly 2 carat stone gathers light from angles most settings block.
Certified where it counts
The center stone is an IGI-certified lab-grown diamond graded D color — fully colorless — and VVS clarity, with a certificate of authenticity and a unique IGI serial number verifying quality and origin. It is a real diamond, Mohs 10, identical to a mined stone in everything but its birthplace; our guide to moissanite vs lab-grown diamond untangles the terms, and are lab-grown diamonds worth it covers the value question honestly. At around 2 carats for a fraction of the mined equivalent — see the lab-grown diamond price guide — the math tends to answer itself.
Solid yellow gold, high polish, petite band
The high-polish band averages just 1.7 mm, a petite profile that makes the elongated stone look even grander, and the high-profile setting sits proudly above the finger. Choose solid 10K yellow gold for the most durable, most affordable option; 14K for the classic balance of warmth and strength (our most popular); or 18K for the richest color and highest gold content — the karat comparison guide compares all three. White or rose gold versions are available on request. Note that the matching wedding band is sold separately; explore more solitaire engagement rings and lab-grown diamond engagement rings for sibling styles.

Sizing & care
This ring fits true to size — pick yours from the drop-down, or measure at home with our find your size guide since sizing can vary slightly between jewelers. Clean it with warm water, a drop of mild soap, and a soft brush, paying attention to the open basket and hidden halo where lotion can collect; rinse and pat dry. The high-profile setting loves attention, so remove the ring for gym sessions and gardening. An optional professional appraisal is available from the drop-down; the fee is non-refundable once completed.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is an elongated cushion cut?
It is a cushion cut stretched into a rectangular outline — here about 6.5 x 9 mm — keeping the soft, rounded corners of a classic cushion while adding the finger-flattering length of an oval. It combines brilliant-cut sparkle with an elongated silhouette.
What is a hidden halo?
A ring of small lab-grown diamonds set beneath the center stone, below the girdle, invisible from directly above. It keeps the clean solitaire look while adding extra light from the side and three-quarter views.
Is the center stone a real diamond?
Yes. A lab-grown diamond is a real diamond — same carbon crystal, same brilliance, same Mohs 10 hardness as a mined stone. The only difference is that it was grown above ground.
How large is the diamond?
The elongated cushion measures approximately 6.5 x 9.0 mm, with an average carat weight around 2.0 carats (slight variation is normal). The elongated proportion makes it appear even larger on the hand.
What certification comes with this ring?
The center stone is IGI certified, and every ring ships with a certificate of authenticity and a unique IGI serial number verifying the diamond's quality and origin.
What do D color and VVS clarity mean in practice?
D is the top of the color scale — no detectable tint, pure icy white. VVS clarity means any inclusions are so small they cannot be seen without strong magnification. Together they mean the stone looks flawless to the eye.
Why an open basket setting?
The open basket holds the diamond in slender claw prongs with the pavilion exposed, letting light enter from every direction. More light in means more brilliance out — especially paired with the hidden halo beneath.
Which karat of yellow gold should I choose?
10K is the hardest and most affordable, 14K is the most popular balance of durability and warm color, and 18K holds the most gold for the deepest hue. All three are solid yellow gold with permanent color.
Can I order it in white or rose gold?
Yes — the drop-down lists 10K, 14K, and 18K yellow gold, and the same design is available in 14K white or rose gold on request. Contact us before ordering.
Is a matching wedding band included?
No — the matching band is sold separately. The solitaire's clean profile pairs easily with straight or curved bands; contact us if you would like help matching one.
Is this ring good for everyday wear?
Yes. Diamond is the hardest gemstone known, and solid gold wears for generations. Because the setting is high-profile, we recommend removing it for workouts, gardening, and heavy chores to protect the prongs.
Do you offer engraving?
Yes, complimentary engraving of up to 16 characters is included — a date, initials, or a private phrase inside the band.
How long does production take?
The ring is made to order; please allow 3–5 weeks for handcrafted production. Requested modifications may affect production time and pricing.
Can I choose a different gemstone?
Yes — alternative gemstone options are available for this setting. Contact us for a custom quote before placing your order.

Frequently Asked Questions
Every ring on this page is made in solid gold or platinum — never plated, never gold-filled. Solid gold comes in 10K, 14K and 18K across yellow, white and rose; our platinum is 95% pure, naturally hypoallergenic, and white the whole way through. Available metals vary by design and are listed in the selector above. Our Precious Metal Guide explains how each one wears.
Side by side and brand new, the two look almost identical. The difference shows up over years of wear.
White gold is a gold alloy finished with rhodium for brightness. It sits lighter on the hand and costs less, and the rhodium finish is refreshed every few years to keep it crisp.
Platinum is white all the way through, so there is no finish to renew. It is around 40% denser — noticeably weightier — and over time develops a soft matte patina that many people prefer. It can be polished back to a high shine whenever you like.
Our Platinum vs Gold guide compares durability, cost and upkeep in full.
Solid gold is gold throughout — alloyed for strength, but the same metal at the surface as at the core. Gold vermeil is sterling silver with a layer of gold applied over it, which thins with wear and needs replating to stay bright. Rings on this page are solid gold or platinum only. Our Precious Metal Guide sets out where each makes sense.
Neither tarnishes. Gold and platinum are two of the most stable metals used in fine jewelry, and both hold their color indefinitely. Platinum does develop a satin patina as it is worn — that is surface texture rather than damage, and it polishes out at any time. Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush is all either metal asks for; see our Jewelry Care Guide.
Nothing on this page is pulled from a shelf. Each solid gold and platinum ring is cast, set and finished for your order, which takes 3 to 6 weeks depending on the design — pavé settings, custom sizing and engraving sit at the longer end. Shipping is added once your ring is finished, and paying for faster shipping speeds up transit only — it does not shorten production. Full timings are on our Shipping & Delivery page.
Use the Size Chart linked beside the Add to Bag button, or our full Ring Size Chart. Because these rings are made to order, we cut your size from the start rather than resizing a stock band — so measure carefully. Your first resizing is free if it is still not right. Most designs can be adjusted, though eternity bands and rings with stones set the whole way around usually cannot.
On most designs, yes — if engraving is available for this ring, a text field appears with the options above. Standard engraving is complimentary: up to 16 characters on women’s rings and 25 on men’s, set in Arial, with a small selection of symbols included. Custom fonts and symbols are $25 and are arranged before you order. See the Engraving page for what is possible. Engraved rings are final sale.
Returns and exchanges are accepted within 14 days of delivery on unworn rings in original condition. Because solid gold and platinum rings are made to order, they are subject to a restocking fee, and engraved pieces are final sale. Full terms are on our Returns & Refunds page. Every ring is also covered by our lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.
