A leaf turns with the seasons; this stone turns with the light. Our leaf-inspired alexandrite engagement ring set pairs a color-shifting oval lab-grown alexandrite — bluish green by daylight, purplish red under candlelight — with warm solid yellow gold carved into a botanical silhouette. It is one of the most nature-forward designs among our alexandrite engagement rings, made for someone whose favorite color depends on the hour.
The Engagement Ring
An oval lab-grown alexandrite held within leaf-inspired solid yellow gold, accented by smaller lab-grown alexandrites and brilliant moissanite for extra light along the vines.
The Matching Band
A coordinating band completes the two-piece set, designed to sit beside the engagement ring or be worn beautifully on its own.
One stone, two colors
Alexandrite is famous for a trick almost no other gemstone can perform: a true color change. In daylight the oval center reads bluish green; under incandescent or warm evening light it shifts toward purplish red. The change is real and visible — not a shimmer or a flash, but the whole stone crossing from one color family into another. Our journal explains how lab-grown alexandrite changes color if you want the science behind the magic.
Lab-grown, and genuinely alexandrite
The center stone is lab-grown alexandrite — real alexandrite with the same chemistry, the same dramatic color shift, and the same impressive 8.5 hardness on the Mohs scale, grown in a controlled setting instead of mined. That hardness puts it just below sapphire, which makes it a confident choice for a ring worn every day. If you are weighing a created stone against a mined one, our guide to lab-grown vs natural alexandrite covers what actually differs. Along the band, smaller lab-grown alexandrites and moissanite accents echo the center stone’s glow.
A leaf motif in warm yellow gold
Yellow gold is the metal that makes botanical designs feel alive — the same warmth as sunlight through leaves. The sculpted silhouette places the color-changing stone inside an organic, leaf-inspired frame, giving the set the character of our leaf engagement rings and the broader family of nature-inspired engagement rings. The slender band, averaging 1.7 mm, keeps the focus on the stone and the vinework around it.
Choose your karat
Every ring in this set is solid gold all the way through — never plated over a base metal. Pick your karat from the drop-down menu: 10K yellow gold is the hardest and most affordable, 14K is our most popular balance of rich color and everyday strength, and 18K carries the highest gold content for the deepest, warmest hue. Our 10K vs 14K vs 18K gold karat comparison guide walks through the trade-offs, and the same design is available in white gold or rose gold on request.

Sizing & care
Choose your size from the drop-down menu — half and quarter sizes are offered — and measure with our ring sizing guide before ordering, since sizing can vary up to half a size between different jewelers’ tools. At 8.5 on the Mohs scale, alexandrite handles daily wear gracefully: warm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth keep the stones and the gold bright. Remove the rings for heavy or abrasive work and store them in their box between wears.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the alexandrite in this ring really change color?
Yes. The oval center stone shifts from bluish green in daylight to purplish red under incandescent or warm evening light. The change comes from the way alexandrite absorbs light, so it is a true color change you can watch happen as you move between rooms.
Is lab-grown alexandrite real alexandrite?
Yes. Lab-grown alexandrite is genuine alexandrite with the same chemical composition, the same color-changing behavior, and the same 8.5 Mohs hardness as its mined counterpart. It is grown in a controlled environment rather than pulled from the earth.
What does this alexandrite engagement ring set include?
The set includes the leaf-inspired alexandrite engagement ring and its matching band, sold together as a two-piece set. They arrive in a luxury ring box with free U.S. shipping.
Can the two rings be worn separately?
Yes. The set is designed to be worn together or separately, so the engagement ring can stand alone and the band works as an everyday ring in its own right.
What are the accent stones?
The accents are smaller lab-grown alexandrites paired with moissanite, a brilliant lab-grown gemstone with even more fire than diamond. Together they add sparkle along the leaf-inspired metalwork without competing with the color-changing center stone.
How big is the center stone?
The oval lab-grown alexandrite measures approximately 6.0 x 8.0 mm and weighs about 1.7 carats.
Is alexandrite durable enough for everyday wear?
Yes. Alexandrite measures 8.5 on the Mohs hardness scale, just below sapphire, which makes it one of the most durable colored gemstones available for an engagement ring worn daily.
Which gold options can I choose?
Solid 10K, 14K, or 18K yellow gold, selectable from the drop-down menu. 10K is the hardest and most affordable, 14K balances color and strength, and 18K has the richest golden hue. White gold and rose gold versions are available on request.
Is the gold solid or plated?
Solid gold all the way through, in every karat offered. There is no base metal underneath and no coating on the surface, and the color will never wear away or turn your skin green.
Can I have the rings engraved?
Yes. Complimentary engraving is included with the set, with a limit of 16 characters. Add your engraving request when you order.
How long does production take?
This set is made to order. Please allow 3-5 weeks for your rings to be handmade for you. Requested modifications may extend the production timeline and adjust pricing.
How do I find my ring size?
Use our free online ring sizing guide before ordering. Half and quarter sizes are offered in the size picker, and note that sizing can vary up to half a size between different jewelers' tools.
Can I get an appraisal or a different gemstone?
Yes. An optional appraisal can be selected from the drop-down menu; its cost is non-refundable once the work has been performed. Different gemstone options are also available - contact us for a custom quote.

Frequently Asked Questions
Every ring on this page is made in solid gold or platinum — never plated, never gold-filled. Solid gold comes in 10K, 14K and 18K across yellow, white and rose; our platinum is 95% pure, naturally hypoallergenic, and white the whole way through. Available metals vary by design and are listed in the selector above. Our Precious Metal Guide explains how each one wears.
Side by side and brand new, the two look almost identical. The difference shows up over years of wear.
White gold is a gold alloy finished with rhodium for brightness. It sits lighter on the hand and costs less, and the rhodium finish is refreshed every few years to keep it crisp.
Platinum is white all the way through, so there is no finish to renew. It is around 40% denser — noticeably weightier — and over time develops a soft matte patina that many people prefer. It can be polished back to a high shine whenever you like.
Our Platinum vs Gold guide compares durability, cost and upkeep in full.
Solid gold is gold throughout — alloyed for strength, but the same metal at the surface as at the core. Gold vermeil is sterling silver with a layer of gold applied over it, which thins with wear and needs replating to stay bright. Rings on this page are solid gold or platinum only. Our Precious Metal Guide sets out where each makes sense.
Neither tarnishes. Gold and platinum are two of the most stable metals used in fine jewelry, and both hold their color indefinitely. Platinum does develop a satin patina as it is worn — that is surface texture rather than damage, and it polishes out at any time. Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush is all either metal asks for; see our Jewelry Care Guide.
Nothing on this page is pulled from a shelf. Each solid gold and platinum ring is cast, set and finished for your order, which takes 3 to 6 weeks depending on the design — pavé settings, custom sizing and engraving sit at the longer end. Shipping is added once your ring is finished, and paying for faster shipping speeds up transit only — it does not shorten production. Full timings are on our Shipping & Delivery page.
Use the Find my ring size link beside the Add to Cart button, or our full Ring Size Chart. Because these rings are made to order, we cut your size from the start rather than resizing a stock band — so measure carefully. Your first resizing is free if it is still not right. Most designs can be adjusted, though eternity bands and rings with stones set the whole way around usually cannot.
On most designs, yes — if engraving is available for this ring, a text field appears with the options above. Standard engraving is complimentary: up to 16 characters on women’s rings and 25 on men’s, set in Arial, with a small selection of symbols included. Custom fonts and symbols are $25 and are arranged before you order. See the Engraving page for what is possible. Engraved rings are final sale.
Returns and exchanges are accepted within 14 days of delivery on unworn rings in original condition. Because solid gold and platinum rings are made to order, they are subject to a restocking fee, and engraved pieces are final sale. Full terms are on our Returns & Refunds page. Every ring is also covered by our lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.
