One stone, two personalities. This princess cut alexandrite ring carries an 8x8mm lab-grown alexandrite that reads bluish green in daylight and turns purplish red under warm evening light — a visible transformation, not a trick of marketing. Set in solid rose gold with your choice of moissanite or natural diamond accents, it’s a ring that never shows you the same face twice.
Why the Princess Cut Suits Alexandrite
The princess cut is a square brilliant: crisp, architectural corners on top, a pavilion of chevron facets underneath that fires light back in sharp, angular flashes. On an alexandrite, those facets do double duty. Every flash becomes a small window into the stone’s current color, so the shift from cool teal-green to warm violet-magenta plays out across dozens of tiny reflections instead of one flat plane. At a generous 8x8mm and approximately 3.0 carats, the display is impossible to miss.
If you love clean geometry, you can browse the wider range of princess cut engagement rings to see how the shape behaves across different stones — alexandrite remains the only one that answers the light back.
Lab-Grown Alexandrite Is Real Alexandrite
The center stone is grown in a lab from the same chrysoberyl crystal that forms natural alexandrite, with the same chemistry, the same 8.5 rating on the Mohs hardness scale, and the same genuine color change. The difference is practical: natural alexandrite of this size and clarity is one of the rarest gems on earth, while the lab-grown route makes a large, vividly shifting stone attainable. Our guide to lab-grown vs natural alexandrite walks through the comparison honestly, and if you’re curious about the physics, read how alexandrite shifts color from daylight to lamplight.
Solid Rose Gold, Three Karats
The band is solid rose gold all the way through — no layers, no coatings — on an average 2.0mm width that keeps the focus on the stone. Choose your karat from the drop-down:
- 10K rose gold — the hardest and most affordable, built for everyday knocks.
- 14K rose gold — the most popular balance of strength, color, and value.
- 18K rose gold — the richest, warmest blush hue for a more luxurious feel.
Undecided? Our 10K vs 14K vs 18K karat guide breaks down the differences, and you can explore the full solid gold rings collection for more heirloom-grade designs.
Accent Stones: Moissanite or Natural Diamond
Approximately 0.3 total carats of accent stones frame the center. Choose moissanite in colorless D grade — a real lab-grown gemstone with even more fire than diamond and a 9 to 9.25 Mohs hardness (here’s what moissanite actually is) — or natural conflict-free diamonds in G/H color, I1 eye-clean clarity, the hardest material in jewelry at Mohs 10.
A Stone That Mirrors a Marriage
Alexandrite has long stood for balance and transformation: one stone holding two natures, cool and warm, day and night. As the June birthstone’s most dramatic form, it makes a pointed alternative to a conventional sparkler — a fit for someone whose favorite answer is “both.” This design belongs to our collection of alexandrite engagement rings, and there are matching alexandrite wedding bands if you want the color change to run in a pair.

Sizing & Care
Half and quarter sizes are offered in the drop-down, and additional sizes are available on request. Sizing can vary up to half a size between jewelers’ tools, so check our ring size guide before ordering. To care for the ring, wash it in warm water with mild soap, dry with a soft cloth, and store it separately from harder stones like diamonds. Remove it for heavy work at the gym or garden — at 8.5 Mohs, alexandrite handles daily wear well, but no gem is indestructible. Your ring arrives in a free luxury ring box with free USA shipping, and an optional appraisal can be added from the drop-down menu.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the alexandrite in this ring really change color?
Yes. The lab-grown alexandrite shows a genuine, visible shift — bluish green to teal in daylight or office lighting, moving toward violet, magenta, and purplish red under warm incandescent or candle light. It’s the same optical phenomenon natural alexandrite is famous for.
Is lab-grown alexandrite a real alexandrite?
Yes. Lab-grown alexandrite is genuine chrysoberyl with the same chemical composition, 8.5 Mohs hardness, and true color change as mined alexandrite. It is not a simulant — it is the same gem, grown in a controlled environment instead of underground.
Is a princess cut alexandrite ring durable enough for daily wear?
Yes. At 8.5 on the Mohs scale, alexandrite is one of the most durable colored gemstones — harder than sapphire-adjacent favorites like aquamarine or morganite — and well suited to an everyday engagement ring with sensible care.
How large is the center stone?
The princess cut center stone measures 8.0 x 8.0 mm and weighs approximately 3.0 carats — a substantial presence on the hand with a full, wide face to display the color change.
What is the difference between the moissanite and diamond accent options?
The moissanite option uses colorless D-grade stones with slightly more rainbow fire and a 9–9.25 Mohs hardness. The natural diamond option uses conflict-free G/H color, I1 eye-clean diamonds at Mohs 10. Both total approximately 0.3 carats; the choice is sparkle character and budget.
Which rose gold karat should I choose?
10K is the hardest and most affordable, 14K is the most popular balance of durability and color, and 18K has the richest, warmest rose hue. All three are solid gold through and through.
Is this ring solid gold?
Yes. Every karat option — 10K, 14K, and 18K — is solid rose gold from surface to core, made to be worn daily and passed down.
Is alexandrite a birthstone?
Yes — alexandrite is a June birthstone, alongside pearl and moonstone, which makes this ring a meaningful choice for June birthdays as well as engagements.
Can I get a matching wedding band?
Yes. Our alexandrite wedding bands collection includes designs in matching rose gold that pair naturally with this ring’s clean princess silhouette.
How long does it take to receive this ring?
Each ring is made to order; please allow 3–5 weeks for it to be handmade for you. Requested modifications may extend the timeline and adjust pricing.
Is engraving included?
Yes — complimentary engraving of up to 16 characters is included, so you can add a date, initials, or a private phrase inside the band.
What if I don’t know my ring size?
Check our ring size guide at aquamarise.com/pages/find-your-size before ordering. Keep in mind sizing can vary up to half a size between different jewelers’ sizers and mandrels.
Can I add an appraisal?
Yes — select the optional appraisal from the drop-down menu at checkout. Please note the appraisal fee is non-refundable once the work has been performed.
✨ Production time
Every ring on this page is cast, set and finished for your order. Nothing is taken from stock.
- Made-to-order solid gold and platinum: 3–6 weeks, depending on the design. Pavé settings, custom sizing and engraving sit at the longer end.

Shipping is added once your ring is finished. These are the options you will see at checkout:
- USPS Ground Advantage — free on every order
- FedEx Home Delivery® — $10
- FedEx 2Day® — $22

Please note: upgraded shipping speeds up transit only — it does not shorten the 3–6 week production time. Transit estimates begin the day your ring ships, not the day you order, and can vary with carrier delays. Shipping fees are non-refundable.

We ship worldwide with DHL. Live rates for your address are calculated at checkout — usually DHL Express Worldwide, with DHL eCommerce Parcel Standard also offered to some destinations as a slower, lower-cost option.
For many countries, duties and taxes can be prepaid at checkout for a smoother delivery — if prepaid, no additional fees are due on arrival. Customs fees are set by your country and are non-refundable once the order has shipped.
Every order ships fully insured and requires a signature. Full details on our Shipping & Delivery page.
Engraving is cut into the inside of the band, so it stays between the two of you.
AVAILABILITY
Engraving is offered on most — though not all — designs. If it is available for this ring, an engraving field appears with the options above.

Frequently Asked Questions
Every ring on this page is made in solid gold or platinum — never plated, never gold-filled. Solid gold comes in 10K, 14K and 18K across yellow, white and rose; our platinum is 95% pure, naturally hypoallergenic, and white the whole way through. Available metals vary by design and are listed in the selector above. Our Precious Metal Guide explains how each one wears.
Side by side and brand new, the two look almost identical. The difference shows up over years of wear.
White gold is a gold alloy finished with rhodium for brightness. It sits lighter on the hand and costs less, and the rhodium finish is refreshed every few years to keep it crisp.
Platinum is white all the way through, so there is no finish to renew. It is around 40% denser — noticeably weightier — and over time develops a soft matte patina that many people prefer. It can be polished back to a high shine whenever you like.
Our Platinum vs Gold guide compares durability, cost and upkeep in full.
Solid gold is gold throughout — alloyed for strength, but the same metal at the surface as at the core. Gold vermeil is sterling silver with a layer of gold applied over it, which thins with wear and needs replating to stay bright. Rings on this page are solid gold or platinum only. Our Precious Metal Guide sets out where each makes sense.
Neither tarnishes. Gold and platinum are two of the most stable metals used in fine jewelry, and both hold their color indefinitely. Platinum does develop a satin patina as it is worn — that is surface texture rather than damage, and it polishes out at any time. Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush is all either metal asks for; see our Jewelry Care Guide.
Nothing on this page is pulled from a shelf. Each solid gold and platinum ring is cast, set and finished for your order, which takes 3 to 6 weeks depending on the design — pavé settings, custom sizing and engraving sit at the longer end. Shipping is added once your ring is finished, and paying for faster shipping speeds up transit only — it does not shorten production. Full timings are on our Shipping & Delivery page.
Use the Size Chart linked beside the Add to Bag button, or our full Ring Size Chart. Because these rings are made to order, we cut your size from the start rather than resizing a stock band — so measure carefully. Your first resizing is free if it is still not right. Most designs can be adjusted, though eternity bands and rings with stones set the whole way around usually cannot.
On most designs, yes — if engraving is available for this ring, a text field appears with the options above. Standard engraving is complimentary: up to 16 characters on women’s rings and 25 on men’s, set in Arial, with a small selection of symbols included. Custom fonts and symbols are $25 and are arranged before you order. See the Engraving page for what is possible. Engraved rings are final sale.
Returns and exchanges are accepted within 14 days of delivery on unworn rings in original condition. Because solid gold and platinum rings are made to order, they are subject to a restocking fee, and engraved pieces are final sale. Full terms are on our Returns & Refunds page. Every ring is also covered by our lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.
