The Rowan is a marquise moss agate ring that treats the stone like a leaf rather than a jewel — a pointed, elongated slice of natural moss agate held between sculpted rose gold foliage, with lab-grown emerald accents adding a deeper green against the warm metal. Made to order in solid 10K, 14K, or 18K rose gold.
Why the marquise cut belongs on this ring
A marquise is essentially the shape of a leaf: two curved sides meeting at two points. On most stones that is simply a flattering silhouette — it elongates the finger and spreads its surface area wide, so the stone reads larger than its weight. On moss agate it becomes the design itself. The pointed outline echoes the sculpted leaves of the band, so the center stone looks like it grew there rather than being mounted afterward.
The elongating effect is the reason marquise rings have stayed in fashion for two and a half centuries; our guide to marquise engagement rings covers what the shape does on the hand. To compare the cut across other stones, browse the marquise gemstone jewelry collection.
Lab-grown emeralds, doing the quiet work
The side stones are lab-grown emeralds — real emeralds, grown rather than mined, chosen here for color consistency and durability. Their saturated green sits a shade deeper than the mossy inclusions in the agate, which gives the design two distinct greens instead of one: the vivid accents and the soft, smoky landscape of the center. Against rose gold, both greens warm up noticeably — the classic complementary pairing that makes this metal the most romantic frame for a green stone.
The leaf setting itself is more than decoration: sculpted foliage wraps toward the center stone and helps shield its edges. If you are weighing setting styles for this stone, our guide to the best settings for moss agate engagement rings explains why protective, organic settings suit it.
Solid rose gold, in the karat you choose
Every option in the drop-down is solid rose gold all the way through — the blush color is the alloy itself, permanent by nature:
- 10K — the most durable and most affordable, ideal for hands-on daily wear.
- 14K — our default and most popular: the classic balance of warmth, strength, and value.
- 18K — the highest gold content and the deepest, richest rose tone.
Our 10K vs 14K vs 18K karat comparison guide walks through the trade-offs. Prefer a different shade? Yellow or white gold is available on request. The rest of this tier lives in our solid gold rings collection.
No two stones alike
Moss agate is a natural gemstone, and the green, moss-like inclusions inside it form on their own terms — drifting plumes and branching threads that look like a landscape sealed in glass. The stone cut for your ring will carry its own pattern, which means your Rowan is genuinely one of a kind, close to the photographs but never identical to them. That individuality is most of the reason people choose a moss agate engagement ring over a conventional colorless stone.
What moss agate means
Moss agate has long been read as a stone of growth, renewal, and connection to the natural world — the gardener's talisman, in the old folklore. For a ring marking a beginning, the symbolism does real work: a stone whose beauty comes from what grew inside it. We trace the history in our guide to moss agate meaning. For more designs in this vein, the leaf engagement rings collection gathers every botanical silhouette we make.

Sizing & care
Choose your size from the drop-down; the band is a true-to-size fit. If you are between sizes or unsure, our ring size guide shows how to measure at home before you order.
Moss agate is well suited to everyday wear, but like any natural stone it prefers to skip the hard knocks: take the ring off for gym sessions, gardening, and heavy lifting, and keep it away from harsh chemicals and ultrasonic cleaners. Warm water, a drop of mild soap, and a soft brush will keep both the agate and the emeralds bright. Dry with a lint-free cloth.
Frequently asked questions
Is the moss agate natural?
Yes. The center stone is natural moss agate, and the green inclusions inside it formed naturally. No two stones carry the same pattern, so every ring is one of a kind.
Will my ring look exactly like the photos?
Very close, but not identical. Each moss agate has its own arrangement of inclusions, so your stone may show more or less green, and the pattern will be uniquely yours. That variation is the point of the stone.
What are the green side stones?
Lab-grown emeralds. They provide a vivid, consistent green that contrasts with the softer, smokier green of the moss agate center.
Are lab-grown emeralds real emeralds?
Yes. A lab-grown emerald has the same composition and crystal structure as a mined emerald — it is a real emerald, grown in a controlled setting, which also gives it fewer of the internal fractures mined emeralds are known for.
Is this real solid gold?
Yes. The Rowan is made from solid rose gold in whichever karat you select — 10K, 14K, or 18K. The rose color is the alloy itself, running through the entire ring.
Which karat should I choose?
10K is the hardest-wearing and most affordable. 14K is our most popular choice and the best all-round balance. 18K carries the highest gold content and the richest rose tone. All three are solid gold.
Can I get this design in yellow or white gold?
Yes. Rose gold is the listed option, but the same design can be made in solid yellow or white gold on request — contact us before ordering and we will set it up.
Why choose a marquise cut for moss agate?
The marquise silhouette elongates the finger and maximizes the stone's face-up size, and its leaf-like outline suits moss agate especially well — the pointed shape lets the mossy inclusions read like foliage, matching the sculpted leaves of the band.
Is moss agate durable enough for an engagement ring?
Yes, with sensible care. Moss agate handles daily wear well, but it is not as hard as sapphire or diamond, so remove the ring for heavy manual work and avoid hard impacts and harsh chemicals.
How should I clean this ring?
Warm water, a small amount of mild soap, and a soft brush. Rinse and dry completely with a lint-free cloth. Skip ultrasonic and steam cleaners, which are too aggressive for moss agate.
What does moss agate symbolize?
Moss agate is traditionally associated with growth, renewal, and a connection to nature, which is why so many couples choose it for rings that mark a new chapter.
Can I request a different center stone?
Yes. Alternative center stones are available on request — contact us for options and a quote before placing your order.
Is a professional appraisal available?
Yes. An optional professional appraisal can be added from the drop-down menu. Please note the appraisal fee is non-refundable once the appraisal has been completed.
What is included with my order?
Your ring arrives in a free luxury ring box, and shipping within the USA is free. All of our stones and metals are conflict-free.

Frequently Asked Questions
Every ring on this page is made in solid gold or platinum — never plated, never gold-filled. Solid gold comes in 10K, 14K and 18K across yellow, white and rose; our platinum is 95% pure, naturally hypoallergenic, and white the whole way through. Available metals vary by design and are listed in the selector above. Our Precious Metal Guide explains how each one wears.
Side by side and brand new, the two look almost identical. The difference shows up over years of wear.
White gold is a gold alloy finished with rhodium for brightness. It sits lighter on the hand and costs less, and the rhodium finish is refreshed every few years to keep it crisp.
Platinum is white all the way through, so there is no finish to renew. It is around 40% denser — noticeably weightier — and over time develops a soft matte patina that many people prefer. It can be polished back to a high shine whenever you like.
Our Platinum vs Gold guide compares durability, cost and upkeep in full.
Solid gold is gold throughout — alloyed for strength, but the same metal at the surface as at the core. Gold vermeil is sterling silver with a layer of gold applied over it, which thins with wear and needs replating to stay bright. Rings on this page are solid gold or platinum only. Our Precious Metal Guide sets out where each makes sense.
Neither tarnishes. Gold and platinum are two of the most stable metals used in fine jewelry, and both hold their color indefinitely. Platinum does develop a satin patina as it is worn — that is surface texture rather than damage, and it polishes out at any time. Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush is all either metal asks for; see our Jewelry Care Guide.
Nothing on this page is pulled from a shelf. Each solid gold and platinum ring is cast, set and finished for your order, which takes 3 to 6 weeks depending on the design — pavé settings, custom sizing and engraving sit at the longer end. Shipping is added once your ring is finished, and paying for faster shipping speeds up transit only — it does not shorten production. Full timings are on our Shipping & Delivery page.
Use the Size Chart linked beside the Add to Bag button, or our full Ring Size Chart. Because these rings are made to order, we cut your size from the start rather than resizing a stock band — so measure carefully. Your first resizing is free if it is still not right. Most designs can be adjusted, though eternity bands and rings with stones set the whole way around usually cannot.
On most designs, yes — if engraving is available for this ring, a text field appears with the options above. Standard engraving is complimentary: up to 16 characters on women’s rings and 25 on men’s, set in Arial, with a small selection of symbols included. Custom fonts and symbols are $25 and are arranged before you order. See the Engraving page for what is possible. Engraved rings are final sale.
Returns and exchanges are accepted within 14 days of delivery on unworn rings in original condition. Because solid gold and platinum rings are made to order, they are subject to a restocking fee, and engraved pieces are final sale. Full terms are on our Returns & Refunds page. Every ring is also covered by our lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.
