Top-Tier Moissanite Specifications
D Color — the most desirable color grade for white moissanite. Crystalline pure white with no yellow or grey tint. Top of the color scale.
VVS1 Clarity — Very, Very Slightly Included, grade 1. Inclusions extremely difficult to detect even under 10x magnification by a trained gemologist. Eye-clean by an enormous margin.
VVS1 + D color is the top tier of moissanite specification, significantly above the standard grades most moissanite engagement rings use. The stone reads as crystalline pure white with strong sparkle and rainbow flash.
The Engagement Ring
Pear-cut moissanite center (6×8mm, VVS1 D color, ~1.2ct) in a 4-prong claw setting with milgrain bezel detail. Celtic trinity knot metalwork at each shoulder, accented by small round moissanite at the outer edges of each knot.
The Chevron Contour Band
V-shape chevron silhouette with a Celtic trinity knot at the apex point (pointing down) and graduated moissanite accents fanning up each side. Designed to nest below the engagement ring.
Solid 14K white gold — the heirloom tier
"Solid gold" means the entire ring is gold alloy throughout — no plating, no gold-filled construction, no sterling silver core, no rhodium finish layer. 14K white gold is gold alloyed with palladium and other white metals to produce the cool bright white tone, hard enough for daily wear, and built to last indefinitely.
A solid 14K white gold ring is built to last a lifetime. It doesn't need replating, doesn't wear through, and holds resale and inheritance value in a way that lighter constructions don't. This is the version you choose when you want the engagement ring to outlast you — not just for the duration of the marriage, but for generations after. The cool white-metal palette pairs naturally with the colorless moissanite center: bright white gold lets the moissanite's brilliance and fire dominate the visual without warm-metal contamination.
Why white gold over yellow or rose for this design: white gold continues the cool-metal palette that lets the moissanite's brilliance and rainbow fire carry the visual. Yellow gold against colorless moissanite reads as warm vintage-classical (a valid alternative aesthetic); rose gold softens the design into romantic register. White gold preserves the classical-bridal heirloom intent that the moissanite center sets up.
About the moissanite center (VVS1, D color, ~1.2 carats)
The center stone is real moissanite — silicon carbide, a distinct gemstone material with its own optical and physical properties. Moissanite is not a diamond, not a lab-grown diamond, and not a simulated diamond. It's its own gemstone, originally discovered in meteorite fragments in 1893 by Henri Moissan (hence the name), and now grown in laboratories for jewelry use.
This moissanite is specified at the top tier of moissanite quality:
- Color: D — the most desirable color grade for white moissanite (equivalent to diamond's D color, the colorless top of the scale). Reads as crystalline pure white with no yellow or grey tint.
- Clarity: VVS1 — Very, Very Slightly Included, grade 1. Inclusions are extremely difficult to see even under 10x magnification by a trained gemologist. Eye-clean by an enormous margin.
- Cut: Pear brilliant — 6×8mm, classical pear (teardrop) facet pattern. Approximately 1.2 carats in moissanite weight.
- Hardness: 9.25 on the Mohs scale — between sapphire (9) and diamond (10). One of the most durable engagement-ring stones available.
- Optics: Moissanite has higher dispersion than diamond — more "fire" (rainbow flash) than a diamond of comparable cut. This is one of the visual signatures of moissanite vs diamond. The pear cut's facet structure amplifies the fire effect, especially at the pointed tip.
VVS1 + D color is the top of moissanite specification — significantly above the standard tier most moissanite engagement rings use. The choice matters: at this clarity and color grade, the stone reads as crystalline pure white with no perceptible color cast, inclusions are invisible to the unaided eye, and the moissanite holds its highest possible visual quality.
Moissanite vs diamond — honest comparison
Moissanite and diamond are both white crystalline stones with high brilliance, but they have meaningfully different optical signatures:
- Brilliance: Both stones return strong white light. Diamond has slightly higher brilliance overall, but the difference is subtle at the buyer level.
- Fire (rainbow flash): Moissanite has noticeably more fire than diamond. The higher dispersion produces a more colorful sparkle pattern with stronger rainbow flashes. Many buyers prefer moissanite specifically for the extra fire; others prefer diamond's more subtle sparkle character.
- Body color: At D color, both stones read as crystalline pure white. Subtle differences exist under careful inspection, but the visual reading at engagement-ring viewing distance is essentially identical.
- Durability: Diamond is Mohs 10, moissanite is Mohs 9.25. Both are exceptionally hard. The practical difference is negligible — moissanite is durable enough for lifetime daily wear without concern.
- Price: Moissanite is dramatically more accessible than diamond at comparable carat sizes. The savings are significant enough to allow larger or higher-quality center stones at the same budget.
Why choose moissanite: significantly more accessible than diamond at comparable specifications, more fire (rainbow flash) than diamond, lab-grown with no mining footprint, and lifetime durability. Why some buyers prefer diamond: cultural significance, established resale market, traditional bridal preference. Both are legitimate choices — moissanite is its own gemstone with its own merits, not a "fake diamond."
About the moissanite side stones (matched throughout)
The small accent stones at the outer edges of the Celtic knot accents on the engagement ring + the graduated accents along the chevron contour band are also real moissanite — the same material as the center stone, just at smaller sizes for the accent role. This creates a unified single-material composition throughout the set, which has two specific advantages over mixed-stone configurations:
- Consistent optical character: all white stones in the set show the same fire (rainbow flash) and sparkle behavior. Mixed configurations (diamond center + moissanite accents, or moissanite center + CZ accents) show subtly different sparkle patterns between center and accents, which can read as visually inconsistent.
- Consistent durability: all stones at Mohs 9.25, no soft-stone accent that requires special care while the center is durable. Mixed configurations often have a durability mismatch (diamond center + CZ accents have a 1.5-point hardness gap; moissanite throughout has none).
For buyers wanting an upgrade to all-diamond throughout (lab-grown diamond center + lab-grown diamond accents), we offer that as a further upgrade at additional cost. Message us before ordering for a custom quote. Note: an all-diamond version would lose the consistent-fire advantage of all-moissanite (diamond has less fire than moissanite), so the choice between these tiers is genuinely aesthetic rather than hierarchical.
About the Celtic trinity knot (triquetra) accents
The interlaced metalwork elements at each shoulder of the engagement ring — and at the apex point of the chevron contour band — are Celtic trinity knots, also called triquetras. The triquetra is one of the oldest Celtic symbols, dating back over 1,000 years and appearing in pre-Christian Celtic religious art, the Book of Kells (~800 AD), and later Christian Celtic tradition where it became associated with the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit).
The symbolic meaning has multiple traditional interpretations:
- Christian Celtic tradition: the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) — three persons of one divine unity
- Earlier Celtic tradition: threefold aspects of nature or the divine, with various interpretations across the broader Celtic cultural region
- Modern interpretation in bridal jewelry: three forces becoming one (the union of two individuals into a partnership that's larger than the sum of its parts), past/present/future, or mind/body/soul
The interlaced line in a triquetra has no beginning and no end — like all Celtic knotwork, it represents endless continuity, eternity, and unbroken connection. For Irish, Scottish, Welsh, Manx, or Breton heritage buyers, the triquetra carries personal cultural significance beyond the general design appeal.
In solid 14K white gold, the open Celtic knotwork reads with more substantial weight and presence than the same pattern in sterling silver — the metal's density gives the interlaced lines a fuller, heirloom feel on the finger. Combined with the all-moissanite stone composition, the set reads as a complete heirloom-tier Celtic bridal piece.
About the chevron contour band
The matching wedding band uses a V-shape chevron silhouette with a trinity knot at the apex point and graduated moissanite accents fanning up each side. The chevron silhouette is one of the classical contour band shapes for pairing with pointed center stones (pear, marquise, kite) — the V-apex points downward, nesting below the engagement ring's center stone rather than rising above it like a tiara band would.
Worn together, the two rings read as a vertically symmetrical composition: the pear moissanite at the upper center, the chevron's trinity knot at the lower apex, and the engagement ring's two shoulder triquetras completing the Celtic-symbolic framework. The three trinity knots across the two rings create a layered symbolic composition with all-moissanite sparkle throughout the set.

How to wear the set
- Complete bridal set — both rings stacked together as the proposal + wedding set. The engagement ring carries the moissanite center; the chevron band nests below as the wedding band, with the V-apex's trinity knot completing the Celtic-symbolic framework
- Engagement ring solo — proposal piece, with the contour band added at the wedding
- Chevron band solo — worn alone on the right hand or stacked with other bands. A complete statement contour ring on its own
- Celtic heritage bridal — for Irish, Scottish, Welsh, Manx, Breton heritage couples, the triquetra carries personal cultural significance. The heirloom-tier construction makes this set appropriate for traditional Catholic weddings with Celtic heritage, handfasting ceremonies, or any wedding tradition where the cultural symbolism resonates
- Classical bridal at heirloom tier — for couples who want a real-gemstone center stone in classical white-bridal format with meaningful design symbolism. The all-moissanite throughout creates a unified visual composition appropriate for heirloom-tier construction

Sizing & care
Standard sizes 3–10 (US) available in the dropdown. Larger and smaller sizes are available on request — message us before ordering. Half and quarter sizes available. Sizing can vary slightly between jewelers and mandrels — up to half a size — so if you've been sized recently elsewhere, check our sizing guide before ordering or message us for a complimentary ring sizer.
Moissanite is one of the most durable engagement-ring stones available — Mohs 9.25, second only to diamond. Handles daily wear excellently, isn't prone to chipping like softer stones. The pear cut's pointed tip is the most vulnerable part of the center stone, but moissanite is hard enough that this is a minor concern compared to softer stones. Moissanite can tolerate ultrasonic cleaning and steam cleaning, though we recommend gentle hand-cleaning with warm water and a soft brush for the solid gold construction (the metal prefers gentler care than the stones require).
Solid 14K white gold doesn't need replating and holds its tone indefinitely with normal wear. A soft jewelry cloth keeps the white gold bright. Avoid harsh chemicals (chlorine, bleach, ammonia) as general best practice. Store both rings separately when not worn so prongs and accent stones don't catch on each other.
Frequently asked questions
Is this ring solid gold or gold plated?
Solid 14K white gold throughout — no plating, no gold-filled construction, no sterling silver core, no rhodium finish layer. The entire ring is white gold alloy. Built to last a lifetime, never needs replating, holds resale and inheritance value.
Is moissanite a diamond?
No — moissanite is its own distinct gemstone, not a diamond, not a lab-grown diamond, and not a simulated diamond. Moissanite is silicon carbide (a different material from diamond's carbon). Originally discovered in meteorite fragments in 1893 by Henri Moissan, now grown in laboratories for jewelry use. Hardness 9.25 on the Mohs scale (between sapphire at 9 and diamond at 10), more fire (rainbow flash) than diamond.
What does VVS1 D color mean?
Top-tier moissanite specifications: D color means the most desirable color grade for white moissanite — crystalline pure white with no yellow or grey tint. VVS1 clarity means Very, Very Slightly Included grade 1 — inclusions extremely difficult to see even under 10x magnification by a trained gemologist, eye-clean by significant margin. This is the top of moissanite specifications, significantly above the standard tier most moissanite engagement rings use.
How does moissanite compare visually to diamond?
Both are white crystalline stones with high brilliance. Diamond has slightly higher brilliance overall (subtle difference at buyer-viewing distance). Moissanite has noticeably more fire (rainbow flash) — the higher dispersion produces stronger colorful sparkle patterns. Many buyers prefer moissanite specifically for the extra fire; others prefer diamond's more subtle sparkle character. At D color, both read as crystalline pure white. Durability comparable (diamond Mohs 10, moissanite Mohs 9.25). Main practical difference is price: moissanite is dramatically more accessible at comparable specifications.
Can I upgrade to lab-grown or natural diamond instead?
Yes — both available at additional cost on request. Lab-grown diamond is real diamond grown in a controlled lab (same chemistry, same hardness as natural mined diamond, more accessible). Natural mined diamond is genuine mined diamond with cultural significance and stronger resale market. Either upgrade can be applied to the center stone, the accent stones, or both. Message us before ordering for a custom quote.
Are the side stones also real moissanite?
Yes — all small accent stones (at the outer edges of the Celtic knot accents on the engagement ring + the graduated accents on the chevron contour band) are real moissanite, the same material as the center stone. Color-matched to the center (D color), just at smaller sizes for the accent role. This creates a unified single-material composition throughout — all stones at Mohs 9.25, all with the same fire/sparkle character. Meaningful upgrade over CZ-accent versions which mix moissanite center with simulated diamond accents.
What's the difference between this and the sterling silver version with white sapphire?
Three significant differences: (1) the center stone changes from white sapphire to moissanite — different material with different optical character (moissanite has more fire/sparkle than white sapphire), (2) the metal changes from sterling silver to solid 14K white gold throughout — heirloom-tier construction, (3) the accent stones change from CZ to real moissanite — unified material composition throughout. The two listings serve genuinely different buyer segments: silver version is the accessible classical bridal entry; this version is the heirloom-tier with maximum sparkle and lifetime construction.
Why all moissanite instead of moissanite center + diamond accents?
Two reasons. (1) Consistent optical character: all-moissanite means the center and accents show the same fire and sparkle pattern; mixed configurations show subtly different sparkle patterns that can read as visually inconsistent. (2) Consistent durability: all stones at Mohs 9.25, no hardness mismatch. For buyers who specifically want all-diamond throughout, the upgrade pathway is available — but it's an aesthetic choice rather than a hierarchical upgrade since diamond has less fire than moissanite.
What does the Celtic trinity knot symbolize?
The triquetra (Celtic trinity knot) is one of the oldest Celtic symbols, dating back over 1,000 years. Multiple traditional interpretations: in Christian Celtic tradition, the Holy Trinity; in pre-Christian Celtic tradition, threefold aspects of nature or the divine; in modern bridal interpretation, three forces becoming one (the union of two individuals into a partnership larger than its parts), past/present/future, or mind/body/soul. Common thread: "three forces unified into one" with unbroken interlaced line representing endless continuity. For Celtic heritage couples, carries personal cultural significance.
How big is the center stone?
6.0 × 8.0 mm pear cut, approximately 1.2 carats in moissanite. The pear cut's elongated vertical orientation visually elongates the finger and gives the stone substantial presence — it reads larger than a 1.2ct round would. Larger sizes (1.5ct, 2ct+) available on request for a custom quote.
How durable is the ring for daily wear?
Exceptional. All stones throughout (center + accents) are moissanite at Mohs 9.25 — second only to diamond. Handles daily wear excellently, isn't prone to chipping. Suitable for active lifestyles and indefinite daily wear. The solid 14K white gold construction is similarly built for lifetime use.
How does engraving work?
Complimentary engraving up to 16 characters is included. You can specify the text at checkout or message us with the engraving details before ordering. Engraving is interior (inside the band), the standard placement for engagement ring engravings.
Can I get this in 14K yellow or rose gold instead?
Yes — both are available on request at the same construction. Yellow gold against the colorless moissanite reads as warm vintage-classical (valid alternative aesthetic); rose gold softens the design into romantic register; white gold (this listing default) preserves the cool classical-bridal palette. 18K upgrades (white, yellow, or rose) are also available at additional cost.
Will this ring stack with additional plain bands?
Yes. The two-ring set works as a complete bridal stack on its own, but both rings layer cleanly with plain bands, eternity bands, or other shaped rings if you want to build the stack out further over time.
How long until my ring ships?
Made to order, 2–6 week production timeline. Modifications (different metal, custom engraving, diamond upgrade, custom sizing) may extend the timeline. We'll confirm production timing when your order is placed.
Should I add the appraisal?
The optional appraisal is recommended if you plan to insure the ring or want an independent valuation document for your records. Most insurance providers require a written appraisal to schedule the ring on a jewelry policy. The appraisal cost is non-refundable once the work has been performed, so add it at checkout only if you know you'll use it.
Are the stones ethically sourced?
Yes. Moissanite is lab-grown with no mining footprint. Diamond upgrade options (lab-grown or natural mined) sourced from ethical conflict-free origins with verified fair-labor practices.
