A drop of light that can’t decide on a color — and doesn’t have to. The Amy is a teardrop alexandrite ring and matching curved band, sold as a two-piece set in solid white gold or platinum. Its pear-cut lab-grown alexandrite runs bluish green in daylight and deepens to violet and purplish red under warm evening light, while moissanite or natural diamond accents keep the sparkle constant through every change.
The Engagement Ring
A 7x5mm pear-cut lab-grown alexandrite of approximately 1.0 carat, its teardrop point framed by your choice of moissanite or natural diamond accents in cool white metal.
The Curved Band
A matching wedding band contoured to follow the teardrop’s silhouette, so the two rings meet without a gap and wear as one flowing shape.
The Teardrop Advantage
The pear cut — a rounded base tapering to a single point — is the most elongating shape you can put on a finger, and it gives alexandrite something a symmetrical cut can’t: a gradient. Light enters differently at the broad end than at the point, so during the color shift the stone often shows both moods at once, green melting into violet across a few millimeters. Our pear-shaped engagement rings guide covers the shape’s history and styling, and the wider family lives in our pear-shaped gemstone jewelry collection.
A Lab Alexandrite Engagement Ring, Honestly Framed
The center stone is lab-grown alexandrite: genuine color-changing chrysoberyl, chemically identical to the mined gem, rated 8.5 on the Mohs hardness scale and fully suited to daily wear. Growing the crystal in a lab is the reason a clean, vivid teardrop like this exists at an attainable price — natural alexandrite of this quality is rarer than diamond. Curious how the shift works? See whether synthetic alexandrite changes color — short answer: yes, genuinely and visibly.
White Gold or Platinum, Built as a Pair
Both rings are made together in your chosen metal, on a slender 1.7mm average band width. Every option is a naturally cool white that lets the alexandrite’s greens and purples read exactly as they are:
- 10K white gold — the most durable and most affordable karat.
- 14K white gold — the classic balance of strength, purity, and value.
- 18K white gold — the highest gold content of the three.
- Platinum — denser, naturally white, and hypoallergenic.
Compare the karats in our 10K vs 14K vs 18K gold guide or weigh the premium option in the platinum vs gold guide. This design is also available in solid rose or yellow gold on request. The contoured band echoes the styles in our curved wedding bands collection, and more matched pairs live among our wedding ring sets for women and alexandrite engagement rings.
Accent Stones, Your Way
Moissanite accents are colorless D grade, VVS1 clarity, Mohs 9 — a real lab-grown gemstone with exceptional fire. Natural diamond accents are conflict-free, G/H color, I1 eye-clean clarity, Mohs 10. Select your preference from the drop-down menu.

Sizing & Care
Half and quarter sizes appear in the drop-down, and additional sizes are available on request. Because sizers and mandrels vary between jewelers — often by up to half a size — confirm your fit with our ring size guide first. Clean the set with warm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth; store the two rings together but away from harder gems, and take them off for abrasive work. The set arrives in a free luxury ring box with free USA shipping, and an optional appraisal can be selected from the drop-down menu.
Frequently Asked Questions
What comes in the Amy teardrop set?
Two rings, made together: the pear-cut alexandrite engagement ring and its matching curved wedding band, both in the same white gold karat or platinum and the same size.
Why is the wedding band curved?
The band is contoured to trace the teardrop’s outline, so it sits flush against the engagement ring instead of leaving a gap. On the hand, the pair reads as one continuous design.
Does this alexandrite genuinely change color?
Yes. Expect bluish green to teal in daylight and cool lighting, shifting to violet and purplish red under warm incandescent light. The pear shape often shows a gradient of both colors at once.
Is a lab alexandrite engagement ring a real alexandrite ring?
Yes. Lab-grown alexandrite is genuine chrysoberyl - the same mineral, hardness, and color change as the mined stone. It is grown, not simulated, and it is the only practical way to own a clean teardrop of this size.
What is the difference between a pear and a teardrop cut?
Nothing — they are two names for the same shape: rounded at the base, tapering to a point. We use both because shoppers search both.
How big is the center stone?
The pear-cut alexandrite measures 7.0 x 5.0 mm and weighs approximately 1.0 carat — an elegant, elongating scale over the set’s slender 1.7mm bands.
Which way should the teardrop point?
Tradition says point-down toward the wrist for an elongating look, but plenty of brides wear it point-up. The set works either way — wear it the way it feels right.
Should I pick moissanite or natural diamond accents?
Moissanite (D, VVS1, Mohs 9) gives maximum fire for the price; natural conflict-free diamonds (G/H, I1 eye-clean, Mohs 10) carry the classic pedigree. Both stay icy white beside the color-changing center.
White gold or platinum for this set?
White gold offers three karats and price points — 10K the most durable, 18K the richest. Platinum is naturally white, heavier, and hypoallergenic, the choice for sensitive skin. All four options suit the Amy’s cool styling.
Can I get this set in rose or yellow gold?
Yes — the Amy is also available in solid rose gold or yellow gold on request. Contact us for a quote in your preferred metal.
Is the set durable enough for daily wear?
Yes. Alexandrite’s 8.5 Mohs hardness ranks among the toughest colored gems, and solid white gold or platinum bands are made for everyday life. Remove the rings for rough work and they will last generations.
How long until my set arrives?
The set is made to order — please allow 3–5 weeks of handcrafting time. Requested modifications can extend the timeline and may adjust pricing.
Is engraving available?
Yes — complimentary engraving of up to 16 characters is included with the set, perfect for your wedding date or initials.
How do I choose my ring size, and is an appraisal offered?
Measure with our sizing guide at aquamarise.com/pages/find-your-size — jewelers’ tools can differ by up to half a size. An optional appraisal is available from the drop-down menu; its fee is non-refundable once performed.
✨ Production time
Every ring on this page is cast, set and finished for your order. Nothing is taken from stock.
- Made-to-order solid gold and platinum: 3–6 weeks, depending on the design. Pavé settings, custom sizing and engraving sit at the longer end.
🚚 United States
Shipping is added once your ring is finished. These are the options you will see at checkout:
- USPS Ground Advantage — free on every order
- FedEx Home Delivery® — $10
- FedEx 2Day® — $22
- FedEx Overnight — $35
Please note: upgraded shipping speeds up transit only — it does not shorten the 3–6 week production time. Transit estimates begin the day your ring ships, not the day you order, and can vary with carrier delays. Shipping fees are non-refundable.
🌍 International
We ship worldwide with DHL. Live rates for your address are calculated at checkout — usually DHL Express Worldwide, with DHL eCommerce Parcel Standard also offered to some destinations as a slower, lower-cost option.
For many countries, duties and taxes can be prepaid at checkout for a smoother delivery — if prepaid, no additional fees are due on arrival. Customs fees are set by your country and are non-refundable once the order has shipped.
Every order ships fully insured and requires a signature. Full details on our Shipping & Delivery page.
Engraving is cut into the inside of the band, so it stays between the two of you.
AVAILABILITY
Engraving is offered on most — though not all — designs. If it is available for this ring, an engraving field appears with the options above.
CHARACTER LIMITS
Limits depend on the width and design of the band. Spaces count toward the total.
• Women’s rings: up to 16 characters
• Men’s rings: up to 25 characters

Standard engraving is complimentary and set in Arial, chosen because it stays legible at very small sizes. These symbols are included at no extra cost:

Frequently Asked Questions
Every ring on this page is made in solid gold or platinum — never plated, never gold-filled. Solid gold comes in 10K, 14K and 18K across yellow, white and rose; our platinum is 95% pure, naturally hypoallergenic, and white the whole way through. Available metals vary by design and are listed in the selector above. Our Precious Metal Guide explains how each one wears.
Side by side and brand new, the two look almost identical. The difference shows up over years of wear.
White gold is a gold alloy finished with rhodium for brightness. It sits lighter on the hand and costs less, and the rhodium finish is refreshed every few years to keep it crisp.
Platinum is white all the way through, so there is no finish to renew. It is around 40% denser — noticeably weightier — and over time develops a soft matte patina that many people prefer. It can be polished back to a high shine whenever you like.
Our Platinum vs Gold guide compares durability, cost and upkeep in full.
Solid gold is gold throughout — alloyed for strength, but the same metal at the surface as at the core. Gold vermeil is sterling silver with a layer of gold applied over it, which thins with wear and needs replating to stay bright. Rings on this page are solid gold or platinum only. Our Precious Metal Guide sets out where each makes sense.
Neither tarnishes. Gold and platinum are two of the most stable metals used in fine jewelry, and both hold their color indefinitely. Platinum does develop a satin patina as it is worn — that is surface texture rather than damage, and it polishes out at any time. Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush is all either metal asks for; see our Jewelry Care Guide.
Nothing on this page is pulled from a shelf. Each solid gold and platinum ring is cast, set and finished for your order, which takes 3 to 6 weeks depending on the design — pavé settings, custom sizing and engraving sit at the longer end. Shipping is added once your ring is finished, and paying for faster shipping speeds up transit only — it does not shorten production. Full timings are on our Shipping & Delivery page.
Use the Size Chart linked beside the Add to Bag button, or our full Ring Size Chart. Because these rings are made to order, we cut your size from the start rather than resizing a stock band — so measure carefully. Your first resizing is free if it is still not right. Most designs can be adjusted, though eternity bands and rings with stones set the whole way around usually cannot.
On most designs, yes — if engraving is available for this ring, a text field appears with the options above. Standard engraving is complimentary: up to 16 characters on women’s rings and 25 on men’s, set in Arial, with a small selection of symbols included. Custom fonts and symbols are $25 and are arranged before you order. See the Engraving page for what is possible. Engraved rings are final sale.
Returns and exchanges are accepted within 14 days of delivery on unworn rings in original condition. Because solid gold and platinum rings are made to order, they are subject to a restocking fee, and engraved pieces are final sale. Full terms are on our Returns & Refunds page. Every ring is also covered by our lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.
