Stones with natural, non-repeating internal patterns: moss agate with its green dendritic landscapes, salt-and-pepper diamonds with unique constellations of inclusions, rutilated quartz with golden needles, and opal with play-of-color that never sits still. Because the pattern forms in the earth rather than on a cutting wheel, no two stones — and therefore no two rings — can ever be identical.

Most are, and it depends on the stone. Sapphire at 9 on the Mohs scale and moissanite at 9.25 handle daily wear indefinitely; diamond sits at 10. Quartz-family stones such as moss agate and rutilated quartz sit around 6.5–7 and do best in protective bezel or cradle settings — which is how we design them. Each listing states the stone's hardness so you can match the ring to your lifestyle.

Usually the opposite. Because unusual stones are priced on their own merits rather than on diamond market structures, a distinctive ring often costs a fraction of a conventional solitaire.

Yes. Choose an unconventional cut or setting and keep the stone brilliant and colorless. Moissanite engagement rings are the usual answer: at 9.25 on the Mohs scale with more fire than diamond, a kite or hexagon moissanite in a branch-textured band reads as entirely individual while still flashing like a traditional ring. Lab-grown diamond versions are available on many designs as well.

Genuine 925 sterling silver — a 92.5% solid silver alloy — 14K gold vermeil with 2.5 microns of gold over sterling per the FTC standard, and made-to-order solid 14K or 18K gold and platinum, with solid 14K pieces stamped 585. White metals carry a bright rhodium finish. The same design can usually be ordered in any of these, so the look you choose is not locked to one budget.

Many do. A large share of our designs are sold as sets with a contoured or complementary band, and the couples rings collection pairs women's designs with men's bands for matching his-and-hers sets. If a ring you love is listed alone, ask us — a band can usually be designed to sit flush against it, matching the metal and finish of the original so the pair reads as one piece.

Yes — that is often the best route to a genuinely singular ring. Our loose gemstones collection sells stones unset, from moissanite in thirteen cuts to IGI-certified lab-grown diamonds and one-off colored stones, and the design process then builds metal around the exact stone you chose rather than the other way round. It is the closest thing to a ring that could not exist for anyone else.

Nearly any. Icy blue aquamarine, deep green emerald, and soft pink morganite are the most requested, alongside teal sapphire, purple alexandrite and the green-on-white landscapes of moss agate. Color is one of the fastest ways to make an engagement ring feel like it belongs to one specific person, and most of our settings can be ordered with more than one stone choice, so silhouette and color are decided separately.

Solid gold and platinum rings are made to order and typically take 3–6 weeks from order to dispatch, because the ring is cast, set and finished for you individually.
