Sky blue is the palest and most pastel, Swiss blue is a bright, electric mid-tone, and London blue is the darkest — a deep steel-blue with a teal undertone. Both. The crystal itself is natural, mined topaz, but nearly all strongly blue topaz on the market — ours included — starts as pale material whose color is deepened by irradiation followed by heat. The treatment is the long-established industry standard, and the resulting color is stable and permanent through normal wear and cleaning. Mystic topaz is genuine white topaz finished with an ultra-thin surface coating that refracts light into rainbow greens and purples. Color overlap causes the confusion: golden topaz and citrine can look nearly identical to the eye.
