No two of these rings will ever match — that is the promise of opal. The Victoria is an opal engagement ring in rose gold built around a 7 × 5 mm oval natural Australian opal whose play-of-color shifts through blues, greens, and pastel fire with every turn of the hand. A halo of D-color VVS1 moissanite frames it in solid 10K, 14K, or 18K rose gold.
An Opal Like a Held Piece of Sky
Australia produces the world’s most celebrated opals, and this natural 7 × 5 mm oval shows why: microscopic silica spheres inside the stone diffract light into shifting sheets of blue, green, and soft pastel fire — the phenomenon gemologists call play-of-color. Because that internal architecture forms uniquely in every stone, each Victoria carries a pattern that exists nowhere else. Our opal engagement ring guide walks through what makes a fine opal, and you can compare designs across our opal engagement rings collection.
A Halo That Feeds the Fire
The moissanite halo around the opal is graded D color and VVS1 clarity — colorless, near-flawless stones with more brilliance and fire than diamond. Arranged in an elegant halo with a fan-style cluster, they do two jobs at once: their white sparkle makes the opal’s colors read more vividly by contrast, and their Mohs 9 hardness puts the most durable stones on the ring’s outer edge, where daily life happens. It is a composition, not just a border — a signature of our halo engagement rings.
October’s Stone, Love’s Argument
Opal is the October birthstone, long associated with inspiration, passion, and creative spirit — the Romans considered it the luckiest of gems because it held the colors of all the others. For a couple who wants a ring with a story rather than a stone from a template, an opal makes the case on sight. It is a natural fit among our gemstone engagement rings for anyone stepping outside the diamond tradition.
Solid Rose Gold, Three Karats
Each Victoria is made to order in solid 10K, 14K, or 18K rose gold, selected from the drop-down. 10K is the most durable and most affordable; 14K balances strength and gold content and is our most popular choice; 18K carries the highest gold content and the deepest blush. The rose color comes from the alloy itself, so it is permanent. Our 10K vs 14K vs 18K karat guide compares them in detail, and the design is available in other gold colors on request — see the full range of our solid gold rings.

Sizing & Care
Order your exact size with help from our find-your-size guide. Opal is a soft gemstone — about 5.5–6.5 on the Mohs scale — so treat it like the treasure it is: remove the ring for workouts, gardening, cleaning, and swimming; keep it away from harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners, and sudden temperature swings; and clean it gently with lukewarm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth. Stored thoughtfully and worn mindfully, a fine opal stays radiant for generations. The Victoria arrives in a free luxury ring box with free USA shipping.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the opal natural?
Yes. The center stone is a natural Australian opal, not a synthetic. Its play-of-color formed in the stone over millions of years, and no two are alike.
What is play-of-color?
The shifting flashes of blue, green, and pastel fire you see as the opal moves. Microscopic silica spheres inside the stone diffract light into pure spectral colors — the defining trait of precious opal.
Will my opal look exactly like the photos?
Very close, but not identical — and that is the point. Natural opals vary slightly in pattern and color emphasis from stone to stone, so your ring’s exact constellation of color belongs to you alone.
Why are Australian opals special?
Australia has produced the world’s benchmark precious opals for over a century, prized for vivid, stable play-of-color. When jewelers talk about fine opal, Australian material is usually the standard they mean.
Can I wear an opal engagement ring daily?
Yes, with care. Opal is soft — about 5.5–6.5 on the Mohs scale — so take the ring off for impact-heavy or chemical-heavy tasks. Worn mindfully, it will reward you with color for decades.
Are the halo stones diamonds?
They are moissanite graded D color and VVS1 clarity — a genuine lab-grown gemstone, Mohs 9, with even more fire than diamond. Their hardness also adds a protective, durable frame around the softer opal.
Which karat of rose gold should I choose?
10K for maximum durability at the friendliest price, 14K for the classic balance most couples pick, or 18K for the highest gold content and richest color. Every option is genuine solid rose gold.
Is the ring solid gold or plated?
Solid gold, through and through, in your chosen karat. The rose color is part of the metal itself, so it is permanent and the ring holds real precious-metal value.
Can I get this design in another gold color?
Yes — the Victoria is shown in rose gold, but other gold colors are available on request. Contact us before ordering and we will confirm the details.
Is opal a birthstone?
Yes — opal is the birthstone of October, associated with inspiration, passion, and creativity, which makes this ring especially meaningful for October birthdays and fall proposals.
How do I clean an opal ring?
Lukewarm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth — nothing more. Avoid ultrasonic and steam cleaners, harsh chemicals, and extreme temperature changes, all of which can stress an opal.
How do I find my ring size?
Use the find-your-size guide linked in the sizing section — it shows how to measure a finger or an existing ring at home. Between sizes, most people go up rather than down.
What comes with my order?
A free luxury ring box and free USA shipping. Each ring is made to order in your chosen karat and size — a one-of-a-kind opal, finished just for you.
✨ Production time

Frequently Asked Questions
Every ring on this page is made in solid gold or platinum — never plated, never gold-filled. Solid gold comes in 10K, 14K and 18K across yellow, white and rose; our platinum is 95% pure, naturally hypoallergenic, and white the whole way through. Available metals vary by design and are listed in the selector above. Our Precious Metal Guide explains how each one wears.
Side by side and brand new, the two look almost identical. The difference shows up over years of wear.
White gold is a gold alloy finished with rhodium for brightness. It sits lighter on the hand and costs less, and the rhodium finish is refreshed every few years to keep it crisp.
Platinum is white all the way through, so there is no finish to renew. It is around 40% denser — noticeably weightier — and over time develops a soft matte patina that many people prefer. It can be polished back to a high shine whenever you like.
Our Platinum vs Gold guide compares durability, cost and upkeep in full.
Solid gold is gold throughout — alloyed for strength, but the same metal at the surface as at the core. Gold vermeil is sterling silver with a layer of gold applied over it, which thins with wear and needs replating to stay bright. Rings on this page are solid gold or platinum only. Our Precious Metal Guide sets out where each makes sense.
Neither tarnishes. Gold and platinum are two of the most stable metals used in fine jewelry, and both hold their color indefinitely. Platinum does develop a satin patina as it is worn — that is surface texture rather than damage, and it polishes out at any time. Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush is all either metal asks for; see our Jewelry Care Guide.
Nothing on this page is pulled from a shelf. Each solid gold and platinum ring is cast, set and finished for your order, which takes 3 to 6 weeks depending on the design — pavé settings, custom sizing and engraving sit at the longer end. Shipping is added once your ring is finished, and paying for faster shipping speeds up transit only — it does not shorten production. Full timings are on our Shipping & Delivery page.
Use the Size Chart linked beside the Add to Bag button, or our full Ring Size Chart. Because these rings are made to order, we cut your size from the start rather than resizing a stock band — so measure carefully. Your first resizing is free if it is still not right. Most designs can be adjusted, though eternity bands and rings with stones set the whole way around usually cannot.
On most designs, yes — if engraving is available for this ring, a text field appears with the options above. Standard engraving is complimentary: up to 16 characters on women’s rings and 25 on men’s, set in Arial, with a small selection of symbols included. Custom fonts and symbols are $25 and are arranged before you order. See the Engraving page for what is possible. Engraved rings are final sale.
Returns and exchanges are accepted within 14 days of delivery on unworn rings in original condition. Because solid gold and platinum rings are made to order, they are subject to a restocking fee, and engraved pieces are final sale. Full terms are on our Returns & Refunds page. Every ring is also covered by our lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.
