Herkimer quartz is around 7 on the Mohs hardness scale — durable, but softer than a true diamond — and a raw crystal deserves gentle care: avoid hard knocks, remove the ring for rough hands-on work, and clean it gently with warm soapy water and a soft cloth rather than ultrasonic or steam cleaners. If you'd prefer a harder, more impact-resistant center, choose the genuine diamond or moissanite substitution at checkout.
