The blue sapphire
The first stone is an emerald-cut blue sapphire, about 4×7 mm and 0.8 carats, in a rich royal blue. This is a lab-grown (lab-created) sapphire — the same mineral as natural sapphire (corundum), grown for excellent clarity and color. Sapphire is exceptionally durable at Mohs 9, second only to diamond.
The aquamarine
The second stone is a natural pear-cut aquamarine, about 5×7 mm and 0.8 carats, in the soft sky-blue hue the gem is named for. A natural member of the beryl family, aquamarine is a durable Mohs 7.5–8 stone that's well suited to everyday wear with sensible care.

Both stones are durable, but the aquamarine (Mohs 7.5–8) is a little softer than the sapphire, so clean with warm soapy water and a soft brush, avoid harsh chemicals and hard knocks, and store the ring separately so the two stones don't scratch each other.
